-Comment: Michael Ande (pictured top left on left as Werner), Knut Mahlke (Rupert) and 5 girls in white sailor suits (pants full length), girls in sailor suit dresses as well as boys in short beige and longer black or dark blue Lederhosen and girls in dresses (pic below). Also in blue sailor suits (see story 1: Untidy sailor suits). There is a sequel in 1958 Die Trapp-Familie in Amerika (separate entry follows, rating 5). I've heard about the Trapp familie in the 1970s or 1980s and probably watched the films, but can't remember as I didn't like those films back then. I now like those white sailor suits and here even with unusual white collars. Looks very clean. But they makes themselves wet and dirty (see story 1).
Update: Now I have bought both films (are on one DVD box) and watched this film completely. Also a man in Lederhosen and the boys also outside with green pointed hats. Very good film, many sailor suit scenes (kids first shown at 0:14). Some good scenes in Lederhosen (showing front and backside) and pajamas and some songs. Rating 10 was correct.
DVD is PAL RC2. German language and subtitles only. Good image quality. For more info about the DVD and the sequel see that entry. At least Ande is German, but family should be Austrian, also partly filmed there.
There are some clips/songs on YouTube. Film aka The Trapp Family. There is also a related musical called "The Sound of Music". Scene with the white sailor suits can't be embedded and is at

Now I have also seen the US musical version "The Sound of Music (1965)". See that entry. There are also some more musicals/plays ("Live"). More info there.
Deleted clip removed.
