Die Landärztin vom Tegernsee

Heimatfilm starring Marianne Koch
-Year: 1958
-Year in film: 1950s ?
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: boys ~5-11 ys, Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2:
-Available on DVD: VHS only
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurrence: very low
-Rating: 5/10 *
-Rating: *****
-Comment: A young boy in short pants, maybe buckskin Lederhosen, but could also be of cotton. Suspenders not visible, maybe underneath the jacket. One and very brief scene in the background (supporting actor). Probably some (very) old men in Lederhosen. No Schuhplattler or else. Also a young girl acting, but of course not in Lederhosen.

Film aka just "Die Landärztin (1958)", aired one week ago. The movie itself is also nothing special. Typical Heimatfilm/comedy/doctor film. I have already deleted it except this scene. Story by Karl Morgenstern, also starring Rudolf Prack, Beppo Brem and Willy Millowitsch (I remeber also few scenes with Millowitsch).

Film is a bit better. No clips.

Update: Now I have seen this movie once more and there are some boys in buckskin Lederhosen, one shirtless, one with suspenders, but not H-style suspenders, doing hay work (but in the distance). Later also one very young boy in Lederhosen with H-style suspenders walking with his mom. I wonder why I previously missed those scenes. But only few and brief scenes. Also few or no men in Lederhosen, no Schuhplatter and else. Rather a comedy film than a Heimatfilm. I'm not sure how I should rate this. A handsome blond boy in Lederhosen (supporting actor), but no good close-up scenes.

Originally rated 1-2, now 4-5. Could be worse.

Unknown 5: Unknown Alexei film

Unknown Alexei film, series or documentary
-Year: ?
-Year in film: 1916 ?
-Country: ?
-Who in clothing: Alexei ? ~10 ys, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2: maybe other clothing/uniform
-Available on DVD: ?
-I own: no
-Clothing occurrence: low ?
-Rating: 4/10 ?
-Rating: ****
-Comment: Young Alexei (?) in a medium blue sailor suit.

This is from a fan video called Tsarevich Alexei Romanav - The Story of My Life. It is a collage of different Alexei feature films and also some real footage (b&w). I thought, I already had entries of all Alexei films (which are available) but I haven't noticed this scene/this actor. The boy looks maybe even younger than in most films (11 yo), and is definitely not 13, and the collar looks rather medium blue also unlike most other films. It's not from a pic but a moving scene playing with the dog. Maybe it's a different (Russian) film, but might also be from a movie I have. I haven't checked all films completely, so it's possible. The image quality is a bit poor, maybe from a VHS source. Maybe it's even a self-made clip.

I can't say much more about it. The collar flap is quite long and looks good, but the boy looks very young.

Rating 4 for now. There are definitely better Alexei films like Anastasia: The Mystery of Anna (rating 7).

Die Powenzbande

Mini series. 5 parts starring Gustav Knuth
-Year: 1974
-Year in film: 1890s
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: boys ~10 ys historical clothing
-Who in clothing 2: sailor suit?, Lederhosen ?
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no, partly TV recording ?
-Clothing occurrence: medium ?
-Rating: 6/10 ?
-Rating: ******
-Comment: Some boys in different historical clothing. At least one looks simlar like wearing a sailor suit (first pic on right). On the other pic one boy wears pants with suspender. Probably no real Lederhosen. Also other scenes like skinny dipping.

I have seen this series many years ago, and can't remember it. Maybe I have some parts on VHS but hope for a soon broadcasting. Available on DVD (276 minutes on 3 DVDs) but I'm not sure about this series. As there are also a lot of grown ups acting, I'm not even sure about the amount of scenes with younger actors. Also not sure about spanking scenes. The family Powenz has 6 (older, probably grown up excepts for one teen) sons and 1 daughter. So most or all of the boys are most likely supporting actors of the village. And only the beginning of this series is set in the 1890s. The rest is set 10 or 20 years later. Not sure if many flashbacks.

1930 novel by Ernst Penzoldt. Starring Gustav Knuth, Theo Lingen, Martin Semmelrogge, Ruth-Maria Kubitschek, (grown up) Michael Ande, Pierre Franck and others.

I have to check this again. Rating 6 for now. Few pics on the web and only one short trailer from the DVD company.

Update: new pics, adding atg sailor suits, rating 6.

Peter Pan (1924)

Silent film, 1st Peter Pan film
-Year: 1924
-Year in film: ~1900s
-Country: USA
-Who in clothing: Michael ~7, John ~13, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2: pajamas, shorts, costumes
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: yes
-Clothing occurrence: very low
-Rating: 5/10
-Rating: *****
-Comment: Philippe De Lacy (1917-1995) and Jack Murphy (1911-1962) in dark long sailor suits (pictured). Quite long dark collar. Also both in pajamas. Later also 6 other boys in shorts and nightshirts. Also fur costumes. I think also one pirate in a white sailor suit, but not shown from behind.

First, usually I don't like silent movies (but classics) and don't like Peter Pan. Especially not if played by a woman (Betty Bronson), but he didn't wear a sailor suit anyway. I saw a publicity pic at an auction of De Lacy riding on the dog Nana (George Ali) in a sailor suit. I couldn't find the movie online, so I even bought it.

I hoped for more sailor suit scenes, there are just some brief scenes at the beginning. But they are quite good. Also John was being embraced by his mom and grapped by the collar flap. Also a short bathtub scene (of Michael, also at the beginning), but nothing special there. Pajamas at 10 minutes, nightshirts at 47, shorts 1h15.

Maybe I don't have to tell more about the plot about Peter Pan, who wouldn't grow up and Wendy, Captain Hook, Tinker Bell and Never Neverland. Famous play by J.M. Barrie. This movie was the first Peter Pan film and lost for almost 30 years. Still copyrighted as the copyright was renewed. There is also a new music score in 1999. The film is quite good and very good for it's time with some special effects of the Fairy and flying people. Quite entertaining but I don't think a must have. Quite good music. I sometimes don't notice that it's a silent film.

DVD: I own the US NTSC DVD (which is RC-0, not RC-1) brown/red cover. 102 minutes + extras. There is also an Italian PAL DVD (black/white cover, also digitally restored, not sure if the same extras, but this was not available so fast and not so cheap). Picture quality is acceptable with some scratches and stripes. Some few pirate scenes are dark blue tinted.

Extras: Some extras like text infos, a photo gallery, 2 interviews (audio tracks, 1+30 minutes) and 2 pics of the orchestra. I had problems viewing the extras on my BD-Player. There are 2 menue pages. And the photo gallery was playing extremely fast, so I watched it on my PC. Although this old film, the extras could be better. Obviously not even all of the publicity pics. And why no video showing the restoration and the new composing?

For sailor suit scenes and the movie rating 5. For another movie starring the 13 yo De Lacy, see "Sarah and Son", rating 5, white sailor suit with flying up collar. Coming next update of Vater, Mutter und neun Kinder (if neccessary).

Poor Little Rich Girl (1936)

Family film starring Shirley Temple
-Year: 1936
-Year in film: 1930?
-Country: USA
-Who in clothing:Barbara ~8ys, sailor dress
-Who in clothing 2: Barbara, uniform
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low ?
-Rating: 3/10 ?
-Rating: ***
-Comment: Shirley Temple in  a short dark blue sailor dress, blue collar with stripes, a blue cap and a light blue scarf (colorized version).

And yet another Shirley Temple movie. I don't remember it completely and maybe it's a typical musical films with her. She also wears a uniform similar to the Music Man. Directed by Irving Cummings, starring Gloria Stuart, Alice Faye, Jack Haley and Jane Darwell.

I assume rather few or medium sailor dress scenes. Probably there are better movies. She is also still very young here.

I will check this the next broadcasting. Maybe there are other interesting clothes or other actors as well. Rating 3 for now.

Story 32: Behaviour in the 1930s

This is about 2 interesting and funny scenes of the series "Heimatmuseum", rating 9.

The first scene is about giving medicine outside to a boy in a sailor suit. Looks quite unconfortable. And I'm also not sure if this medicine of this quack would help much against his pain. On the right Jirí Strach watching it wearing a sailor's hat.

The next scene later  showing a man poking his index finger into the boy's cheek and the boy sticking out his tongue.  Well, is that the usual and authentic behaviour of the 1930s? I doubt that. Although very funny and I also like the sailor suits there. There are also other good scenes in that series like carrying the boy. They don't look like as if they were poor, but it was definitely a hard time during the 30s and the 40s between and during the wars. Maybe those films and series are mainly for entertainment and not showing historically correct scenes. Although often based on novels. The same for the Depression series like The Waltons and similar. See also my other blog showing Mary-Ellen Walton with her bare feet on the table. But I like old series and old setting. For more infos about this series see it's entry at

Wenn die Heide blüht

Heimatfilm starring Joachim Hansen
-Year: 1960
-Year in film: 1960?
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: boys ~10-12, Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2: traditional clothing
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurrence: very low
-Rating: 6/10 *
-Rating: ******
-Comment: 2 boys in smooth finish Lederhosen (or maybe nappa leather), one younger boy sitting in buckskin Lederhosen with H-style suspenders and 2 boys with black traditional longer pants with wide suspenders (cotton?, pic below). Also some others in shorts. But all very few and short scenes.

Finally another smooth finish Lederhosen film. Unfortunately only a very short scene and only shown from behind. The movie itself is also nothing special and rather boring but could be worse.

Directed by famous Hans Deppe. Also starring Walter Richter, Peter Carsten, Veronika Bayer, Rudolf Platte, Willy Fritsch and others.

I like smooth finish Lederhosen, rating 5-6 although few scenes.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Family /musical film, script by Roald Dahl
-Year: 1968
-Year in film: 1910s
-Country: UK
-Who in clothing: boys ~10-12, pants with suspenders
-Who in clothing 2: historical clothing. breeches
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurence: very low *
-Rating: 3/10 *
-Rating: ***
-Comment: A lot of boys in Lederhosen like but longer pants (probably cotton) with H-style maybe leather suspenders in at least 2 longer scenes mainly at the end. And lot of actors in historical clothes and breeches and good historical props.

I watched most of this movie some few weeks ago. Quite interesting and famous movie, nominated for Oscar. Novel by Ian Fleming. Starring Dick Van Dyke, Gert Fröbe, Benny Hill, Sally Ann Howes and lots of others. 144 minutes. Partly filmed in Germany.

Somehow I don't like this movie. There are a lot of other famous (Disney) musical and family films of the 60s which are better, I think. I missed the beginning, but don't expect sailor suit or real Lederhosen not overalls scenes there. Quite entertaining, but for "Lederhosen" scenes only rating 3.

Die schöne Müllerin (1954)

Heimatfilm starring Waltraud Haas
-Year: 1954
-Year in film: 1950s ?
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: boys ~10, Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2: woman, overalls, altar boys
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurence: very low
-Rating: 3/10
-Rating: ***
-Comment: I noticed only 2 or 3 boys in the backgound in good buckskin Lederhosen with suspenders. Very short scene of them (pictured). Also a young woman (Haas?) in blue bib overalls. Maybe I make an entry on my other blog later. Some altar boys outside (white/red clothes). Also a lot of grown ups in traditional clothing. The young man/teen boy I mentioned before seeing at a publicity pic at cinema.de I haven't found in the movie. I already deleted it except of the scenes above. Dancing scenes (grown-ups) but no Schuhplattler. Also a ~4yo boy in Lederhosen and Tyrolean hat.

I don't like this movie, though perfect landscape scenes. But the plot could be worse. Also starring Gerhard Riedmann, Paul Hörbiger and Hertha Feiler.  Directed by Wolfgang Liebeneiner ("Die Trapp-Familie" and some other very famous movies and series, even Les aventures de Tom Sawyer 1968, starring Marc Di Napoli and "Auf der Reeperbahn nachts um halb eins").

The other Heimatfilm today was even worse. Die Landärztin (1958). I think I will make an entry later.

For Lederhosen scenes rating 2-3 only.

Story 31: Exclusive photos #8 Germany 1940

2 more from a lot. Next exclusive pics to come: my 1st Lederhosen pic and one old group pic.

Pic on top showing a boy in sailor suit. I can't say much more about it. Probably Germans and taken around the 1940s. Looks more like the 30s. The clothes look quite simple. Maybe they hadn't been rich. Also interesting hair style of both. I assume a quite long collar flap. Short stockings, striped dickey. The white dots in the face are not dust on the scanner, but dots on the photo.

The pic below has a date on verso. 2. Mai 1940 Christi Himmelfahrt. Long black stockings. It's possible that they are both the same kids or at least the boy as I bought them together and the dickey looks the same. But not taken on the same day. Probably it's their granny and maybe mom was taking the picture. The expression of the faces, especially of the girl on top are interesting.

The last pic had 128 hits until now, the thumbnail exclusive pic #6 285 hits, the big pic 6 on bottom 163. The family pic 6 on top only 16 hits on Picasa as I have uploaded and linked within wordpress. Pic 1 has 320 hits, Pics 3 and 4 ~500 each.

A Night to Remember (1958)

B&w Titanic film, Golden Globe
-Year: 1958
-Year in film: 1912
-Country: UK
-Who in clothing: boy ~6, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2: men? other historical clothing
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no, TV recording
-Clothing occurence: low ?
-Rating: 3/10 *
-Rating: ***
-Comment: At least a young boy (also shown from a distance) and maybe some men in sailor suits.

I thought of Titanic films earlier, but haven't find any sailor suit scenes. I think I even have seen this film last week and obviously missed this scene (or it was cut out). There was also another b&w movie with a good boy actor ~11 ys recently, but not in sailor suits. Of course I have seen the 1997 Titanic film (many years ago), but can't remember any boys (in sailor suits) there. And I still have to check other Titanic movies as well. And also historic clips and pics of the real one. (I checked some, but no success there). I'm very interested in such historical films and the Titanic but I think there had been few kids on it and maybe some more outside in Southampton. I didn't expect sailor suits here because of the cold iceberg weather and was happy to find it by a web image search.

This movie is very interesting and exciting (although b&w) and would get a much higher rating, but for sailor suit scenes rating 3 only.

I think I don't know any of the actors except for the uncredited Sean Connery.

Info 93: On TV week 17 2012

Some probably interesting Heimatfilms this week. Pic showing "Wenn die Heide blüht" (1960) (I hope). Maybe no real Lederhosen, but other traditional clothing. Maybe Lederhosen as well.

-Tomorrow Sunday 22 th: Die schöne Müllerin (1954) The pic on cinema.de looks quite good. Not sure if this is a teen boy or a young man in Lederhosen, after that "Die Landärztin" (1958) Not sure if Lederhosen.

-Tuesday 24th: Wenn die Heide blüht

-Friday 27th: Vater, Mutter und neun Kinder (1958)  (rating 7 for now, pic below)

Also on Friday "Auferstehung" (1958) on 3sat. Not sure about this movie. Maybe historical clothing only. Last week I missed the Heimatfilm at this time.

Another post coming later this day.

Im weißen Rößl (1960)

Musical film starring Peter Alexander
-Year: 1960
-Year in film: 1950s ?
-Country: Austria, Germany
-Who in clothing: boys ~5-10 ys, men, Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2: speedos
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurence: very low *
-Rating: 3/10
-Rating: ***
-Comment: Some young boys in buckskin Lederhosen in a dream scene (pictured left with Peter Alexander) and some more, but even younger boys outside. Both brief scenes. Also some teen boys/young men in speedos at a lake (but also nothing much of interest) and I also remember some men in Lederhosen dancing Schuhplattler (Watschnplattler), see also clip.Few young men also outside working/sawing at the beginning.

I don't like this romance/comdey film/ musical film/Heimatfilm. In fact only one short scene of a quite older boy (red jacket). The film itself could also be better. Also starring Karin Dor, Gunther Philip and Frithjof Vierock. English title "The White Horse Inn". Not to be confused with several other movies with the same title (and Im weissen Rößl, Im weissen Roessl). See also

Im weißen Rößl (1952), rating 4 starring Johannes Heesters

Le temps retrouvé, d'après l'oeuvre de Marcel Proust

Drama starring Catherine Deneuve
-Year: 1999
-Year in film: 1890s-1920s
-Country: France, I, PT
-Who in clothing: boys ~10 ys, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2: teen boy, girl, grown ups, historical clothing
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurrence: very low *
-Rating: 5/10
-Rating: *****
-Comment: At least 3 boys (I think supporting actors and brief scenes) in short interesting and different sailor suits and an older girl in a sailor dress (or similar with a collar, pictured). Also a teen boy, probably George du Fresnes as young Marcel Proust in good historical clothing with a short white collar (non sailor collar). Of course lots of grown ups in historical clothing.

I found this by a tag combination search at IMDb. I don't know/don't remember this movie, though checked most parts of it. 158 minutes, also starring John Malcovich, Vincent Perez and Emmanuelle Béart. English title: "Time Regained" and "Marcel Proust's Time Regained". Nominated for a César and a Palme d'Or.

Good setting and maybe interesting plot, but due to very few good boys in sailor suits only rating 4-5 for now. Typical period film and clothing shown especially women with umbrellas. I will check this again if broadcasted.

Info 93: Vintage Lederhosen and sailor suit books

Some vintage children's books featuring Lederhosen and sailor suits. Mostly of the 1950s, sailor suits mostly of the 1900s. For overalls see my other blog. There is also the tag books.

Note that I don't know these books and don't know if they contain illustrations or clothing related texts. Some Lederhosen might only be shorts and only look like Lederhosen, mostly without suspenders.

Usually I searched for history books containing photos (like the 1st one). I hope that this will be useful for someone.

Sailor suits

Div. "Die Reihe Archivbilder" like Heike Kronenwett: "Baden-Baden um 1900" , some others with Lederhosen (1950s)
Clara Nast: Lottchens Kinderzeit (1911, color illust., different covers, one pictured on top)
Franz Hoffmann: Hundertfünfzig Erzählungen für die Jugend
Franz Molnar: Die Jungen der Paulstraße
Helen B. Preston: Blue Nets and Red Sails (cover, b&w illustrations) 1936
George Alexander Ross: Old Glory - The Story of Our Country's Flag (1928)
Olive Beaupre Miller (editor): My Bookhouse - Through Fairy Halls 1 (1896)
L.P. Hubbard: A Little Book for a little cook (pic below)
Lois Lowry: The Silent Boy (3x word overalls) b&w photos, sailor suits (mainly 13 yo girl)
Kathryn & Byron Jackson: Pirates, Ships, and Sailors (color illustr.)
Marion Jane Parker: The Children's Party Book (color illust)
Fanny och Alexander (I own) No illustrations, 1 or 2 mentioning

Lederhosen

günther german: Fahrschule zwiebel
Fritz Moeglich: Mauritius Ein Penny Rot
A. Auswald-Heller: Vierzig Jungen auf Schloß Reinek
Friedel Hoff: Michaela und ihre Freundin
C. G. Schmidt: Pitt, der Segelflieger
Dorothee Weigang: Korry's Abenteuer
Annemarie Hahn: Die Fahndung läuft
Hans Licht: Ein geheimnisvoller Schatz
Johanna Spyri: In Hinterwald
Hal Brendt: Alarm auf Gleis 9

There are also a lot of books about scouting (which I haven't checked this time). Also there are a lot of books about spanking bad boys, but I think mostly without Lederhosen. If I find any I will announce them. I also have to check books based on these films here.

Am Brunnen vor dem Tore (1952)

Heimatfilm starring Sonja Ziemann
-Year: 1952
-Year in film: 1952
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: boy ~12 , Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2: historical clothing
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurrence: very low
-Rating: 5/10
-Rating: *****
-Comment: One older boy, maybe 12 or 13 in blue buckskin Lederhosen (pictured). Front and backside view. Backside even better. Only one short scene. Some few younger boys in long pants with suspenders.

Also a lot of grown ups and some few kids in different traditional and historical clothing. A lot of boys in Napoleon like clothes, marching, also some riding (end of movie).

Starring Sonja Ziemann, Hans Stüwe, Paul Klinger and Kurt Reimann.I don't like this movie. More a romance / comedy/ musical film than a Heimatfilm. Very few, though very good Lederhosen scenes. There are definitely better films.

Rating 5.

Info 92: Update

I have updated "Das alte Försterhaus" now rating 3 instead of 6. Few scenes and boy is much younger than thought. Lederhosen and Schuhplattler scenes (men only). Young boy (Ulli von Berg, pictured) also in black bib overalls (but due to his age no need for this for my other blog).

Coming later this day "Am Brunnen vor dem Tore". Older boy in rare blue short Lederhosen (but one scene only showing front and back" Rating 5.

Im weißen Rössl (1960) was also poor. Few Lederhosen scenes, rating 3-4. Also one speedo scene and Schuhplattler (men only). Coming soon.

Heimatmuseum

Drama mini series. 3 parts
-Year: 1988
-Year in film: 1930s
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: Zygmunt ~14 ys, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2: other boys, ailor suit
-Available on DVD: no
-I own: yes, partly TV recording
-Clothing occurrence: medium *
-Rating: 9/10
-Rating: *********
-Comment: Czech Jirí Strach (pictured on top and bottom in a light blue short sailor suit, rare short white collar) and at least 4 other boys in different short sailor suits (mostly supporting actors). One with a long blue collar, obviously his brother, probably Jan Novák as Conny, pic 2 and 4).

Very good series (331 minutes), autobiographical novel by Siegfried Lenz. Not yet released on on DVD. I have some parts on VHS, but don't remember the complete movie. As the last (2) parts are set in the 1940s (and later) and showing a grown up Zygmunt, I assume rather medium or fewer sailor suit scenes.

There are also some good and funny scenes, so I will create a separate story entry soon.

I hope for a soon broadcasting or DVD. I rate "only" with 9, as I don't like the short white sailor suit of the main character and the rest are probably rather few scenes. No clips. Also starring Mario Adorf, Dolly Dollar, Helmut Zierl and Michael Gempart.

Sekretnyy farvater

War mini series. 4 parts
-Year: 1986
-Year in film: 1944
-Country: Soviet Union
-Who in clothing: boy ~13 ys?, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2: men, woman, sailor suit
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurrence: medium
-Rating: 10/10 ?
-Rating: **********
-Comment: One (teen) boy in perfect marine sailor suit (I don't know his name). Also some men and at least one women in sailor suit. The boy also in other clothes (blue white striped shirt and a jacket with fur or similar).

I found this by coincidence, saw the DVD cover, which already shows this boy in sailor suit. Then I watched most of this series and it looks very good. Long collar flap, medium blue color and a sailor's hat.

As I don't know Russian I can't say much more. I couldn't even find an entry at IMDb. Russian title "Секретный фарватер", English title (at least of the 1964 novel): The Secret Fairway (or Secret Channel) by Leonid Dmitrijevič Platov (1906-1979, real name Leonid Lomakin). Famous author who also did Sci-Fi.

I haven't seen it completely (272 minutes) but checked many parts throughout the complete series. Though rather medium or fewer sailor suit scenes, I think I like this series, sailor suit scenes and actor. Coming next another nearly perfect series (rating 9).

Rating 9-10.

Story 30: Exclusive photo #7 Teen boy in sailor suit

This time a teen boy in a short sailor suit, probably his brother and their little sister.

I don't know much more about this pic. According to the German language on top I assume that they were Germans. Maybe taken in the 1930s or even earlier. Short pants with buttons below at the side and short white stockings.

I also have uploaded 3 other pics on my PD album. 2 aristocratic boys from Belgium and one from Italy in sailor suits. Pic below showing Count of Flanders (Prince Charles-Théodore, 1903-1983, also in sailor suit with his brother) aged ~7.

Min farmors hus

Drama. Novel by Soya
-Year: 1984
-Year in film: 1900s
-Country: Denmark
-Who in clothing: Soren ~6 ys, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2: other clothes, lace collar
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low *
-Rating: 4/10 ?
-Rating: ****
-Comment: Mikkel Egelund (pictured) in a blue sailor suit with unusual collar (pointed at front) and also in knickers and a white lace collar.

I don't know/don't remember this movie, but looks quite good. 1943 novel by Carl Erik Soya. Also starring Tammi Ost and Bodil Udsen (as granny). English title "My Granny's House". I have to check this again later.

Due to the young age rating 4 for now only. I also assume rather few sailor suit scenes. But maybe it's an interesting drama/ comedy film.

Some better pics at (there on the right click more stills)

Story 29: Smell of Lederhosen, cycling

This is about the film "Neger, Neger Schornsteinfeger" (rating 7).

Pic showing Kevin Köppe as Fiete on left in German youth uniform in part 1 set in 1935 at age 10. He helped Klaus (Tim Troeger in buckskin Lederhosen) in a leg-up to remove the prohibition sign, so that the black main character (Hans-Jürgen, partly on the right) also can play at the playground.

Maybe one of the best scene of this movie. He is close to the Lederhosen and probabaly can smell them. Also the nose of Hans-Jürgen is very close to them.

Also some good scenes of Klaus cycling in Lederhosen (pic below with Hans-Jürgen). Very good movie. For more see it's updated entry (movie also showing other boys in short and long Lederhosen, with and without suspenders and even some boys and men in sailor suits, including the main character (aged 5-6). Movie covers years from 1932-1945)

Neger, Neger, Schornsteinfeger

Info 89: Updates

Updating 2 entries as announced. Completely seen both parts of "Neger, Neger, Schornsteinfeger" (rating 7, pic below) and Morte a Venezia (also rating 7). No more pics in Neger, Neger, Schornsteinfeger (6 are enough), but I will make a separate story entry coming next. 3 more pics in Morte a Venezia. (I checked most parts of this movie).

Where Angels Go Trouble Follows!

Comedy film starring Rosalind Russell
-Year: 1968
-Year in film: 1960s
-Country: USA
-Who in clothing: teen girls, sailor suit looking clothes
-Who in clothing 2: other clothes
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low ?
-Rating: 3/10 ?
-Rating: ***
-Comment: Lots of teen girls/young women at a catholic boarding school in sailor suit looking clothes. Short black pants, white shirt, completey white collar (including long collar flap) and a dark scarf (pictured) including Barbara Hunter (I think on left) and Susan Saint James (on right with short dark hair). Looks quite tomboyish. I think this are sports clothing as the other girls wearing long grey skirts. There is also a catholic boys' school (older teen boys/young men), but I don't know of any interesting clothes. Lots of different clothes, including those of the late 60s. Also lot of other actors, including kids in the background. I have to check this again later, but probably only shorts and no Lederhosen nor sailor suits.

Maybe a quite interesting plot, autobiographical novel by Jane Trahey (set in the 1930s unlike the film), sequel to film "The Trouble to Angels" (1966). Possibly I have seen both movies, but can't remember. Film rated G.

No real sailor suits and I also assume rather few scenes. So rating 2-3 for now only. I think I wouldn't like this movie according to the trailer. Maybe someone else does.

Coming next: Updates of "Neger, Neger, Schornsteinfeger" (part 2 coming this evening, rating 7+) and Morte a Venezia (Death in Venice), rating 7.

Das Schweigen im Walde (1976)

Heimatfilm starring Sky du Mont
-Year: 1976
-Year in film: 1899 ?
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: Loisl ~11 ys, Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2: boys ~10-17, men Lederhosen
-Available on DVD: VHS only *
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurrence: medium
-Rating: 7/10
-Rating: *******
-Comment: About 3 rather short scenes of Loisl (I don't know the name of the actor) in longer light brown buckskin Lederhosen (pictured), girl on horse spanked him. At the end 3 boys (front row, teen boy on right) and some men dancing Schuhplattler (longer black buckskin Lederhosen. Lots of men in traditional Lederhosen with suspenders. Loisl also wearing a Tyrolean hat).

I saw this yesterday by coincidence. Ialready had

Das Schweigen im Walde (1955), rating 7

Very good Heimatfilm (novel by Ludwig Ganghofer) dramatic scenes including fire. Rather few Lederhosen (of boys). Loisl seems to be very poor. His Lederhosen are baggy and have more patches than leather so the girl offers him to fix this. The boy is older than that of the previous version (which is also very good, barfeet). Also very rare the boys dancing Schuhplattler. Brief scene also showing the backside of the Lederhosen. But I like that. Of course could be better (more scenes).

I think only on VHS, but very rare OOP.

Rating 7-8.

Der Orgelbauer von St. Marien

Heimatfilm starring Paul Hörbiger
-Year: 1961
-Year in film: 1960s
-Country: Austria
-Who in clothing: boys ~5-12 ys, Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2: men, Lederhosen
-Available on DVD: VHS only
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurence: low
-Rating: 2/10 *
-Rating: **
-Comment: I remember also 2 short scenes of this boy ~8 ys in buckskin Lederhosen with suspenders. Also one even much younger boy in Lederhosen and one in shorts (pictured on right). And I think also some few older boys in longer darker black buckskin Lederhosen, but brief scenes in the background, while camera moving fast and not sure if really leather. Lots of grown ups especially women in traditional Austrian clothing. Of course some men in (longer) Lederhosen. I can't remember if even few Schuhplattler scenes, as I have already deleted most of this film. But if any, they couldn't be very special.

Quite good Heimatfilm and good plot and landscape scenes, musical scenes starring Paul Hörbiger, Gerlinde Locker, Hannelore Cremer and Sieghardt Rupp. Typical Heimatfilm, but unfortunatley very few Lederhosen scenes and very young boys.

Rating 2. The film itself maybe rating 5. But there are much better Heimatfilms.

Emil och griseknoen

Astrid Lindgren. 3rd film, combination of series
-Year: 1973
-Year in film: ~1900
-Country: Sweden, Germany
-Who in clothing: ~5 boys ~5-8 ys,  sailor suits
-Who in clothing 2: others, historical clothing
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: yes, partly TV recording
-Clothing occurrence: medium ?
-Rating:  6/10
-Rating: ******
-Comment: Some boys in different sailor suits. One blond boy ~5 at the auction (ep. 6 in series, big pic on top and thumnail bottom right, note the length and different color of the pants), and one boy ~7-8 at school (ep 9, thumbnail top right) note, that his collar is open and with no scarf, and 2 or some more boys outside, one with a hat.

As announced this film/series which I saw 2 days ago. Unfortunately I missed some parts at the beginning. Thats obviously a combination of the 1971 series "Emil i Lönneberga" German: Michel aus Lönneberga in 13 parts. German title of the film: "Michel bringt die Welt in Ordnung). I also recognize ep 6, 7 and 12. I thought of this series long time ago, because of it's 1900s setting, but I found no sailor suit scenes on pics and clips. Especially Emil/Michel wearing long pants and a cap. There is also some older boys (at the auction), maybe 11 ys, also at close up (but not in sailor suits).

Interesting and of course a famous Astrid Lindgren film, setting and character, along some others, but I don't like this very young main character with rather long and messy hair. The sailor suit scenes are quite good, but could be better. I also have to check the 2 other films (and the 1985 version) or the series. However a very good family entertaintment and classic of the 70s. I think I also remember spanking scenes (not in Lederhosen or sailor suits) or at least other punishments. Also starring Allan Edwall (1924-1997, Fanny och Alexander).

Rating 5-6 for now.

-Das schöne Abenteuer (April 10) starring Oliver Grimm. But maybe no Lederhosen or overalls scenes?)

Also make sure, that you haven't missed my other post earlier this day. I also did 3 on my other blog.

Musikparade

Musical film starring Peter Alexander
-Year: 1956
-Year in film: 1950s ?
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: boy2 ~11 , Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2: shorts, men in short sailor suits
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurrence: low ?
-Rating:  5/10 ?
-Rating: *****
-Comment: Some boys at school, mostly in shorts, at least one or two in buckskin Lederhosen with suspenders. (2nd pic on right, sitting. Unfortunantely he is hardly to see in this dancing scene I think.) I think I also saw a younger boy with suspenders. Also some men in short sailor suits dancing (pic below).

I found this by coincidence and I assume few Lederhosen scenes. But it could be worse.

Famous actors and singers like Peter Alexander, Georg Thomalla and Bibi Johns. Film aka Musik-Parade.

I have to check this again the next broadcasting. Rating 5 for now due to few Lederhosen scenes.

Story 28: Exclusive photos #6

Another set of exclusive sailor suit photos showing 7 boys in sailor suits. I think the 3 youngest boys in dark sailor suits are the same from my previous exclusive post (small pic below). I didn't recognize this earlier as the oldest of the 3 has much shorter hair. The 3 in the light striped sailor suits are the same as the big pic below.

I don't know the exact date, location and all names, but on the big pic below there's a handwritten Christmas greeting. It's written in old German, maybe Kurrent. I can't read it properly, but the names are of Russian origin, not sure if they were Russians. One is Paschenka or Saschenka, one other Kolinka or similar and the 3rd could be Malachenka. There's one additional word which I also cannot read properly. Starting with a W..h.. Could be an abbreviation of Christmas Weihn. and the rest could be the year, maybe 23 (1923), but it might also be the name of a city or else. Maybe it's also taken in 1940, but probably not later. The sailor collar of the boy in the middle is very little seen at the front, so might be a very long flap on his back. Also note that their dickeys cannot been seen in contrary to the pic on top.

Also not sure if this is all one big family and why the 7th boy isn't on the other pic. At least some quite interesting pics. The pic #4 (Dresden, backside had many hits (448) , the pics #5 just 131 each, but I hadn't embed and linked them properly from Picasa.
