Die Abenteuer des braven Soldaten Schwejk (1972)

Comedy series, 13 ep.
-Year: 1972
-Year in film: 1920s ?
-Country: Germany, Austria
-Who in clothing: boys ~8-12, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2: man, sailor, suit, other cl.
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: yes, partly TV recording
-Clothing occurrence: low
-Rating: 6/10 ?
-Rating: ******
-Comment: At least 2 scenes of one or more boys in sailor suits in the background. And also the main character, played by Fritz Muliar in a sailor uniform (German Navy)  with a big and long blue collar. Matching dickey, 3 stripes. And of course lots of others in historical clothing.

This episode 9 is set in Italy in the 1920s or 1930s. I have only seen the last 30 minutes. Next episodes will be aired next Saturday on 3sat. Previous episodes should be set during WWI.

There is also a 1958 movie which I don't know and might also be of interest (starring a different main character).

Quite interesting but as yet only few scenes and few kids.

Rating 4-5 for now. Update Now Rating 6.

Update: Some much better scenes in earlier episodes. See pic below (ep 2) and next entry. Ep 10-13 to come. New pics here from ep 2 (top) and 4.

Mit Blasmusik durch Bayern

Musical show
-Year: x-2012-
-Year in film: 2012
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: boys ~9-13, Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2:
-Available on DVD: no ?
-I own: yes, partly TV recording
-Clothing occurrence: medium ?
-Rating: 5/10
-Rating: *****
-Comment: At least this choir Tölzer Knabenchor in longer Lederhosen. Maybe some men (and boys ?) as well in other parts of this show.

Had been aired 2 days ago.  In this clip they were singing "Fein sein, beinander bleib'n". Rare choir with traditional alpine music. There is a harp playing.

Typical Bavarian musical show, but I only have seen it partly.

I like this choir and especially the alpine Christmas (see "Weihnachtssingen in Polling", rating 7 and other shows and movies with this choir (try a blog search).

Some handsome boys, but in total few good scenes. Maybe most prefer short Lederhosen anyway.

I don't know how long this series is up. No entry at German's No1 database. Related radio broadcasting since 1991.

Rating 5-6.

Reg’lar Fellers

reglarfellers1941-sailor

Comedy film starring Carl ‘Alfalfa’ Switzer
-Year: 1941
-Year in film: ~1940
-Country: USA
-Who in clothing: girl ~12 yo, sailor dress
-Who in clothing 2: boy, overalls
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low ?
-Rating: 3/10 ?
-Rating: ***
-Comment: At least this girl in a sailor dress. And at least one chubby boy in dark bib overalls (also see my overalls blog, rating 5), including this complete PD movie embedded.

I almost forgot it to add it here, but there are better movies. I remember only few good scenes (of this sailor dress).  Not sure about the setting but I think it's the 1940s although sailor dresses were rare then. Mabye it's a stage play or similar.

Probably more in historical clothes.

Rating 3 for that girl.

-Who in clothing 2: shorts

-Comment: Several boys in Lederhosen with and without H-style suspenders, including a young boy in dark smooth finish Lederhosen (on the right). Also boys in shorts, like one in light blue shorts. And boys and girls with soviet scarves.

Typical East German family movie. But 35 minutes only.

I am still busy and only checked some parts of it.

Quite interesting, but the kids are very young.

So rating 6-7 for now only, although I like smooth finished Lederhosen.

Info 181: Update Lederhosen and underwear, Oktoberfest, Musikantenstadl

I always wonder what kind of underwear males and females wearing (nowadays) under their Lederhosen.

According to a post at the German board paradisi.de/Beauty_und_Pflege/Bekleidung/Lederhosen/Forum

someone says that traditionally Lederhosen are/were worn without anything underneath and no lining.

What does it mean? Traditionally. When? I doubt that it is/was true for everyone (little boys, women).

As mentioned in my post

/2011/10/24/story-9-what-underwear-in-lederhosen/

there are several movies showing parts of underwear underneath.

Maybe it's the same questions as what wearing under a kilt.

In the latest episode of Musikantenstadl (also boys, check a blog search) there were lots of young women in Lederhosen. And of course men and boys in Lederhosen in the audience.

The Oktoberfest 2013 starting this Saturday.

I have to check for upcoming broadcastings. Of course I don't know what will then be aired live.

Please check my posts for the last years. But I try to announce anything important as soon as possible.

Exclusive pic#43 sailor suit boy 1900s

This old photo postcard showing 3 blond boys, probably brothers from Beaumont. Not sure which Beaumont, maybe one in Belgium? Can't read the photographer's name either.

The young boy wearing a festive dark sailor suit with black or dark stockings. Completely white collar, no stripes. Note the rare wide belt matching the color of the scarf (maybe blue). Looks almost aristocratic. Short blond hair.

The background looks like a fake studio background to me.

Not my favourite pic, but it wasn't expensive. As usual high res on Picasa.

Info 180: contact and suggestions

Someone who landed in the spam folder asked, how to contact me.

It's simple. Just write a suggestion, a message or something else in a comment, anywhere.

Please no spam or anything looking like spam. No download links or links to unrelated websites.

I will check the movies and add them as soon as possible.

Thanks for your help!

I'm still very busy. Sorry, currently no Lederhosen movie. Exclusive sailor suit pic tomorrow.

Belyy pudel

belyipudel

Drama
-Year: 1957
-Year in film: 1890s ?
-Country: Soviet Union
-Who in clothing: boy ~8, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2: others hist. clo.
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low
-Rating: 3/10 ?
-Rating: ***
-Comment: I think a young boy (not the main character) in a white sailor suit, medium length blue satin pants like the scarf, light blue collar. And of course grown-ups in historical costumes. Also another 12 yo boy acting but not in sailor suit.

1903 or 1904 novel by Aleksandr Kuprin. Aka "Belyi pudel" and "Belyj pudel". English title The White Poodle, Russian title "Белый пудель". Filmed in 1955 in 3D. Released in 1956. IMDb says 1957 (wide release ?)

I only noticed rather brief scenes of this boy. Looks more like a girl.

There are definitely better Soviet sailor suit movies. Maybe a quite good plot and maybe interesting in 3D.

Rating 3 for now.
