Exclusive pic#34 sailor suit boy 1930s

This pic showing an older boy maybe 12 or 13 in a sailor suit, probably German. Looks like a typical 1930s haircut. Though sailor suits were quite rare in the 1930s as they had to wear uniforms. The pic is part of a real photo postcard but bought in that condition from near Hamburg. 2 older people had been cut off, maybe his parents or grandparents?

Good collar, sadly the length can't be seen. I also like his ears.

The Santa Clause 2

santaclause2-lederhosen santaclause2-lederhosen2

Christmas film starring Tim Allen
-Year: 2002
-Year in film: 2000s
-Country: USA
-Who in clothing: kids fake Lederhosen, sailor suits
-Who in clothing 2: (teen) boys, girls overalls
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurence: often
-Rating:  2/10
-Rating: **
-Comment: Some kids (as elves) at least one (is this a girl ?, looks like a girl) in fake dark Lederhosen or pants with H-style suspenders and some in sailor style costumes (pic 2). Pic 3 below showing a girl (?) in a real blue sailor suit and collar (pic is from The Santa Clause 3 which is very similar). Also (teen) boys, girls and adults in snow bibs and other bib overalls (see my overalls blog, rating 3, tagged snow bibs).

I don't like at all these Christmas movies with these fake costumes. Lots of kids but in fact no scenes of interest. Though quite entertaining family movies.

Rating 1-2.

At school he and other boys wearing white Eaton collars. Quite interesting. Sadly few scenes of boys. Not sure about the setting as this are flashback scenes. Pic one at 6 min, school scenes at 10 min, Pic 2 at 20 min.

Buddenbrooks (2008)

Drama starring Armin Mueller-Stahl
-Year: 2008
-Year in film: 1870s
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: Hanno ~14, sailor suit, other cl.
-Who in clothing 2: boy sailor suit, choir boys
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurrence: very low
-Rating:  3/10
-Rating: ***
-Comment: Raban Bieling (pics 1+2) in a light green beige sailor suit, very long collar flap (but one scene at the end only, also falling in water and underwater scene, also a close up of the collar, rear view and side view at a distance), also other clothing and ruffled collar. One other boy in a medium blue sailor suit, white collar (but from a distance, brief scene, pic 3). And choir boys with white big collars (also at the end).

The beginning is set in the 1840s, but the end is much later (Hanno aka Johann is the 4th generation born in 1861, so this scene is set about 1875 ).

Also starring Iris Berben, Jessica Schwarz and August Diehl. Directed by Heinrich Breloer (Die Manns (2001), rating 5, Eine geschlossene Gesellschaft (rating 6)).

I don't like this movie. Very boring and few sailor suit scenes. But interesting and long collar. And at least a teen boy. Bieling is more famous in "Die wilden Kerle".

Also see the 1959 version (b&w, rating 7)

Christmas in Vienna (2011)

Christmas concert 2011
-Year: 2011
-Year in film: 2011
-Country: Austria
-Who in clothing: boys ~9-12, sailor suits
-Who in clothing 2:
-Available on DVD: no ?
-I own: yes, partly TV recording
-Clothing occurence: low
-Rating:  3/10
-Rating: ***
-Comment: The boys of the St. Florianer Sängerknaben in white sailor suits. Pointed blue collars (although not be shown here).

First I don't want to make an entry of this show. But why not? This sailor suits looking like typical sailor suits but are different. First the collar flaps behind are pointed (see below, pic from Musikantenstadl 2011, rating 8 also showing some members of this choir in Lederhosen).

/2011/11/20/st-florianer-sangerknaben-musikantenstadl-2011/

The collars are a bit lighter blue than usual and the scarves looking like pre-attached fake scarves (but that's often seen nowadays also on other choirs like the Wiener Sängerknaben). The white striped dickeys are also uncommon. Often they aren't striped anymore.

The choir is standing above the orchestra except for the soloist Alois Mühlbacher (in a black suit) on the stage. Sorry, I don't like his hair and gestures at all. I prefer other choirs and soloists. I also prefer Alpine Christmas in Lederhosen but that doesn't fit here.

Rating 3-4. Though very interesting collars.

Weihnachten mit Carolin Reiber (2012)

Season show. Alpine Christmas
-Year: 2012
-Year in film: 2012
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: boys ~7-12, Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2: men, Lederhosen
-Available on DVD: no ?
-I own: yes, partly TV recording
-Clothing occurrence: medium
-Rating:  7/10
-Rating: *******
-Comment: At least 4 choirs in Lederhosen.

I announced this but missed the beginning. Some clips and interviews about alpine Christmas traditions and lots of Christmas songs performed by grown-ups and choirs at different locations (studio, outside and church). Lederhosen during Christmas is quite rare as most choirs wearing suits or sailor suits.

Several songs by the following "Tölzer Knabenchor" in typical clothing (red stockings, also see a 2011 Bergweihnacht show

/2011/12/23/info-45-merry-christmas/

Wiltener Sängerknaben in red jackets and longer black Lederhosen, white stockings, looking similar like this

Pics showing Awarded mixed choir "Die Engelsstimmen" at least one boy is missing on the left, see also

/2012/10/27/info-142-update-melodien-der-berge-etc/

Pic 2 showing boys and girls of the "Musikschule Söllandl". One boy has Lederhosen, medium legth.

Interesting show (I haven't seen anything better this year, yet). Maybe it's too late now, but there are other and similar seasons shows, or wait for next Christmas.

There was also a rebroadcasting if "Christmas in Vienna" starring the St. Florianer Sängerknaben (pointed sailor collars, white dickeys) but I don't like Alois Mühlbacher.

Buddenbrooks (1959)

One brief entry of Buddenbrooks (1959). One boy in different collars. Long pants (1st pic) but before shorter pants and round collar. Also Liselotte Pulver in a sailor dress (short collar at the beginning of the movie).

The interesting scenes, also showing another boy John Koch ?), but without interesting clothes at about 1h. Good scenes of touching and correcting the collar (see separate story entry). Movie is about 2,5 hours. Rebroadcasting several times (see 2 entries below).

Das Haus in Montevideo (1963)

Comedy film starring Heinz Rühmann

-Who in clothing 2: girls collars, hist. clothing, hats
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurrence: low
-Rating: 5/10
-Rating: *****
-Comment: At least 2 girls in sailor like dresses with lace collars. Also boys in good historical clothing and hats. 12 children. I later also found boys (quite young) and men in real sailor suits.

http://filmarchiv.at/rte/upload/heft_52/haus-in-montevideo_-das_d-1.jpg

That's the first movie I recently found that I mentioned before. Looks very interesting. But I don't know this complete movie yet.

1963 version after the play by Curt Goetz. Also starring Ruth Leuwerik ("Die Trapp-Famile", see that entry), Paul Dahlke, 9 or 10 yo Pierre Franck (looks like the boy on the left, pic 2) and many others. 12 kids, thats probably also something for my bedroom blog. I also have to check the 1951 version (starring Curt Goetz) but I don't assume sailor suits there.

I can't say much more yet. 123 minutes on DVD.

Rating 5-6 for now. But there are stage plays with boys in sailor suits.

Upate: Also real sailor suits, but movie is rather poor and few good scenes, adding tag women. Was occurence "often?" now low.

Musical comedy Heimatfilm starring Peter Alexander
-Year: 1958
-Year in film: 1950s
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: boys, Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2: men, Lederhosen
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low ?
-Rating: 3/10 ?
-Rating: ***
-Comment: At least some kids in the background in buckskin Lederhosen. Also of course men in longer Lederhosen.

Had been aired yesterday. Unfortunately I missed most of it, so I have to recheck it next airing. This was the only good scene I found on the few and short YouTube clips.

Typical funny movie but I think I won't like it. Also starring Bibi Johns, Brigitte Mira and Ruth Stephan. Aka "Lustige Burschen".

For Lederhosen scenes rating 3 for now only.

Update: I have seen this completely. Nothing more of interest. Very brief scene. Rating 2-3.

-Clothing occurence: medium ??
-Rating: 5/10 ?

-Comment: Some boys and teen boys probably in buckskin Lederhosen (without suspenders) and boys in shorts. Maybe men as well. The movie is in color, the only copyrighted and b&w pic I could found is this

http://www.lagis-hessen.de/de/imagepopup/s3/sn/bd/id/75-160

Movie aka "Der Bauer vom Brücknerhof" starring Willy A. Kleinau, Ingrid Andree and Gunnar Möller.

I search the web for Heimatfilms and that was the 2nd I found (that I don't already have here. The 1st one is with sailor suits, coming next).

Sorry, I can't say much more about this rare movie. Looks interesting. I hope for a soon broadcasting. Deppe did lots of other famous Heimatfilms and comedy films "13 Kleine Esel und der Sonnenhof", "Immer die Radfahrer", "Wenn die Alpenrosen blüh'n". Josua is the name of a black GI (singer Kenneth Spencer).

Rating 5-6 for now.

3 new tinted sailor suit PD pics. 2 French and one British postcard. 1900s or 1910s. Quite interesting and handsome. Short white sailor suits, short stockings. Long collar flaps. There is also at least one 3rd postcard of these French boys, but these 2 are much better. Sorry, I currently don't have any Lederhosen entries, at least none with pics. There's one Luis Trenker Heimatfilm coming today (3sat), but probably without interesting scenes of young actors in Lederhosen.

My 1st exclusive bib overalls pic had almost 1700 hits the first 2 weeks.

-Comment: Some Japanese teen girls in typical school uniforms (sailor fukus). I found this YouTube clip some time ago, but don't know the title of this series or movie.

The song "赤いカンナが咲いていた" is sung by Akira Adachi (安達明), born 1948. Sorry, I can't say much more as I don't understand Japanese. I often find music clips that don't mention the movie title. I tried web translations and searching on IMDb but that's hard work and usually I can't find much more there.

Looks quite good. The collar of the left girl is very short at the front, so probably a very long collar flap on the back. If someone knows the title of this movie, please comment.

Famous novel by Charlotte Bronte. B&w movie with sound, 63 minutes. Set in the 1840s but scenes maybe even earlier (flashback scenes of young Jane Eyre ?). There are a lot of other Jane Eyre period movies and I have to check them as well. I don't know of any with real sailor suits/sailor dresses. Obviously the setting is too early.

-Comment: Sven Valsecchi as 9 yo Ju (but younger looking, maybe the actor is about 7 yo?) in a short dark blue sailor suit. Dark blue collar, 2 stripes, white dickey or shirt (no stripes). Some scenes only mainly at the end of the movie. He also wears shorts. Also at least a boy and men wearing red communist scarves.

Thanks very much for this suggestion! Maybe an interesting movie aka "Sweet Adolescents". I only checked some part mainly at the beginning and end of the movie.

There are definitely better (sailor suit) movies.

Rating 3-4 for sailor suit scenes, rating 6-7 for the movie for now.

Completely on YouTube but I don't have the time to watch it completely at slow speed. There are also other versions (film and series) which I also have to check. Famous novel by Mary Norton ("Bedknobs and Broomsticks").

There are definitely better movies.

Info 151: My 3rd blog: Bedrooms in movies

Although I don't have the time, I created today my 3rd blog, mainly about boys and brothers in bedrooms (still under construction)

http://bedroomsinmovies.wordpress.com/

Many movies are also covered here and my bib overalls blog. So I hope this will also be of interest for most readers.

I will continue blogging on both my other blogs, but I currently have very few Lederhosen and sailor suit entries, so I will blog less frequently here, mainly when I found new movies on TV. Probably there aren't much more Heimatfilms and the like.
