-Comment: I think Peggy Ann Garner (1932-1984) in medium blue ? sailor suit (pictured). Showing front and back at school. Gloria Talbott (1931-2000, credited as teen girl in class) looks the same on publicity stills. Also starring her 11yo film brother Ted Donaldson as Neeley. Famous novel by Betty Smith published in 1943 about a poor family in 1910s Brooklyn. Sorry, I didn't had the time yet to watch this complete movie but only some few parts. As she also wears a dress I assume few sailor suit scenes. Not sure of others (boys) in sailor suits. I have to check that. But I don't think that I would like this film. So rating only 4 for now. This time I searched for a known b/w overalls films and found a pic of Scotty Becket in sailor suit and got a recommendation of this movie. Novel is set between 1912 and 1918 with flashbacks to 1900. There is also a 1951 musical and a 1974 TV movie (in color) but I have to check those too if I find them.
Update: I now have found the 1936 film with Beckett (Scotty, not Johnny). See entry "The Case Against Mrs. Ames".
