This is my 2nd blog about feature films, TV series and documentaries with boys, girls, men and women in sailor suits, Lederhosen and other historical clothing of the 19th century and beyond. I collect informations, trailer videos, low-res images and personal comments/ratings. This blog was introduced in 2011. 2012-2020 on Wordpress. Now I'm back. Update will take a while.

Exclusive pic#34 sailor suit boy 1930s
This pic showing an older boy maybe 12 or 13 in a sailor suit, probably German. Looks like a typical 1930s haircut. Though sailor suits were quite rare in the 1930s as they had to wear uniforms. The pic is part of a real photo postcard but bought in that condition from near Hamburg. 2 older people had been cut off, maybe his parents or grandparents?
Good collar, sadly the length can't be seen. I also like his ears.

Nice portrait. I agree that this photo is German and from the 1930s. He is about ten years old and is probably in short trousers with long black stockings and high-top shoes.

ReplyDeleteThanks very much for your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI never thought of short pants but sailor suits often have short pants. But this boy looks much older to me.

Yes, this boy is at least 12 and probably closer to thirteen or fourteen. In the 1930s German boys wore sailor suits well into their teens--both for school but mainly for dress-up occasions such as weddings and funerals and also of course for church.
