Comment: In today's Prominenten Special episode there was an 11 yo almost 12 yo boy, world champion (in his age region) in Schuhplattler doing this. Longer tight buckskin Lederhosen. Typical traditional clothes including a Tyrolean hat.

Nachbarn sind zum Ärgern da

nachbarnsindzumaergernda

Comedy film starring Eddi Arent
Year: 1970
Year in film: ~1970
Country: Germany
Who in clothing: boy ~5 Lederhosen
Who in clothing 2:
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no
Clothing occurence: very low ?
Rating:  2/10
Rating: **
Comment: Looks like 4 or 5 yo Thomas Ohrner in short buckskin Lederhosen with H-style suspenders. Pic from the very end of the movie.

Typical comedy film of the 70s with the typical grown up actors. Quite funny and not bad. But I don't like the clothes and haircuts of the 70s.

I like the older Tommi Ohrner but he's too young in here.

Probably I have seen the movie many years ago, but can't remember much of it. I assume very few Lederhosen scenes.

So rating 2 only.

Le tour d'écrou (1974)

Turn of the Screw 1974 TV film
Year: 1974
Year in film: 1890s ?
Country: France
Who in clothing: Miles ~9, sailor suit
Who in clothing 2: others clothing
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no
Clothing occurrence: low
Rating:  5/10
Rating: *****
Comment: Stéphane Guiraud in a white sailor suit, white collar, black pants and a straw hat. Scene at 1h05. Also in other historical clothes (knickers). The collar flap is quite long.

Handsome French boy with longer hair on the rear, but I only noticed this brief scene in a sailor suit.

I currently have 4 other Turn of the Screw entries but half of them without sailor suits. 2 also with girls in sailor dresses. Best concerning sailor suits are this and the 1992 version. I also have the 2009 movie, The Haunting of Helen Walker (1995) and Otra vuelta de tuerca (1985).

I have to check for more versions including stage plays.

Rating 5-6 for this one.

Heidelberger Romanze

Romance starring Liselotte Pulver, O.W. Fischer
-Year: 1951
-Year in film: 1914
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: boys ~6-11, sailor suits
-Who in clothing 2: girls sailor dresses
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurrence: medium
-Rating: 7/10 ?
-Rating: *******
-Comment: Several boys (at least 6 or 7 and at least one very young boy) each one in a different sailor suit, also some girls in sailor dresses. One blond boy in a dark blue sailor suit with a very long dark blue collar, 3 stripes and a dark blue dickey with 2 stripes.

Most boys have short but wide collar flaps. One boy in a light blue suit and pants with a completetly white collar. One other in a light blue shirt and dark blue pants, another one in a white suit with a dark blue collar. One in a rare, white blue chequered suit (looks also like a matching attached collar) Most or all pants are of 3/4th length. At least 2 longer scenes near the beginning. Also of course grown-ups in historical clothes and large hats.

Available on an expensive 3 disc set O.W. Fischer compilation (light orange cover), note that there is a different 4 DVD set, combined on the same Amazon entry but with different 4 movies.

Looks very interesting. Unfortunately the YouTube clip has a bad image quality. I hope for a soon broadcasting to check it more carefully.

Rating at least 6-7.

Other Voices, Other Rooms

Drama, novel by Truman Capote
-Year: 1995
-Year in film: 1930s, (1920s)
-Country: USA, UK
-Who in clothing: Joel ~13, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2: teen girl overalls
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurrence: low ?
-Rating: 6/10 ?
-Rating: ******
-Comment: I think David Speck ("The Client") in a long white sailor suit, including white pants and a dark blue sailor collar, 3 stripes and 2 stars on the flap; no scarf and no dickey. Although there are flashback scenes set in the 1920s this scenes are more likely in the 1930s (like the overalls scenes due to his age).

How on earth could I miss these interesting scenes? I already had an entry on my overalls blog (rating even 8 for the teen girl).

Very good scenes, but I think few sailor suit scenes.

Rating 6-7 for now.

The Box of Delights (1984)

boxofdelights

Family series
Year: 1984
Year in film: 1930s ?
Country: UK
Who in clothing: boys ~12, hist. clothes
Who in clothing 2: garter waists
Available on DVD: yes
I own: no
Clothing occurence: often
Rating:  4/10 *
Rating: ****
Comment: Some boys, at least 2 in historical clothes. Pic is from the Blue Peter show and not from the actual series.

I found this by coincidence and it shows I think a boy wearing garter waists with wide crossed straps (stocking supporters ?). Not sure if this or better scenes are shown in the series as well.

Here in Germany I have never heard of this series before. Novel by John Masefield.

Generally, garter waists are also rarely shown (Karl's friend have a lots of pics, see flickr blogroll).

Also at least a blond boy with bowlcut.

Rating 3-4

Info: J’ai tué Raspoutine - available on DVD

jaitueraspoutine

The 1967 movie "Donner über St. Petersberg" aka "I Killed Rasputin" starring Gert Fröbe is available on DVD from VCI Entertainment (DVDr). Probably not the best Rasputin movie.

Gülcan und Collien ziehen aufs Land

Doku soap, 8 episodes
Year: 2008
Year in film: 2000s
Country: Germany
Who in clothing: Markus 12, Thomas10, Lederhosen
Who in clothing 2: men, Lederhosen
Available on DVD: no
I own: no.partly TV recording
Clothing occurrence: low
Rating:  5/10
Rating: *****
Comment: Both boys in a bit longer Lederhosen with H-style suspenders. Pic from the last episode where there's only one boy in Lederhosen. There must be a scene from a village party with maybe more in Lederhosen. Also both women Gülcan and Collien in blue non-jeans bib overalls and rubber boots.

Also some other good scenes like both boys in a hotel bedroom or farm scenes. But I don't remember all episodes.

Quite interesting, but obviously only few Lederhosen scenes. Maybe in the first episode as well?

Rating 5-6. I uploaded a clip in 2024 but it was blocked in all regions.

siebefindensichhier

Documentary

-Year in film: 2010s

-Who in clothing: boy ~8, sailor collar
-Who in clothing 2: costumes, coveralls
-Available on DVD: no ?
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: very low
-Rating: 3/10
-Rating: ***
-Comment: At least this young redhaired boy with a dark blue sailor collar and scarf. Long blue pants and I think sneakers.

The collar flap is quite long and very high and short at the front.

I found this by coincidence. A high school project from Dresden. The documentary is 25 minutes but there also is a 1 hour stage play. I only have checked some parts of the docu.

Mainly grown-ups and visitors shown. Also a young woman in white coveralls.

Rating 2-3.

Zweiohrküken

zweiohrkueken2zweiohrkueken

Romance starring Til Schweiger
-Year: 2009
-Year in film: 2000s
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: boys ~6, sailor suits
-Who in clothing 2: boy overalls
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: yes, partly TV recording
-Clothing occurence: very low
-Rating: 3/10
-Rating: ***
-Comment: I think 2 very young boys in Kindergarten in short, real sailor suits what is very rare in the 2000s. One in a dark blue suit, white striped shirt, dark blue and one other in light blue appearing sailor collar. Also at least a young boy in bib overalls (other blog rating 2).

I only have seen the end yesterday and only found some few pics on the web. Like this

http://www.critic.de/film/zweiohrkueken-1763/bilder/32997/

I have to recheck this again later. I don't like Til Schweiger at all. His daughter Emma is quite funny but first still very young here, and she and her voice a bit annoying after a while.

For more infos, also about his other movies, see my overalls blog.

Rating 4 for now.

Update: Now completetly seen. Rating 2-3 for the sailor suits, rating 1(-2) for the movie. Extremely boring movie.

Il saprofita

saprofita

Romance / drama
-Year: 1974
-Year in film: 1970s
-Country: Italy
-Who in clothing: Parsifal ~10 ? kilt
-Who in clothing 2: suits
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low ?
-Rating: 3/10
-Rating: ***
-Comment: Giancarlo Marinangeli as handicapped Parsifal in a kilt (also sitting in a wheelchair in this kilt). Also wearing a black suit and other boys in navy-style suits (white jackets, black pants, white caps) but I think no sailor suits.

Next to sailor suits and Lederhosen I sometimes post other traditional clothes of interest, also see this brief list showing more boys in kilts

/2012/03/03/list-16-other-traditional-clothing/

Quite interesting movie but I don't like the 70s. Typical movie for it's time. English title The Profiteer. Starring Valeria Moriconi.

Rating 3 for this boy and kilt, movie maybe higher.

Geschichte Mitteldeutschlands

geschichtemitteldeutschlands

Documentary series East Germany
-Year: 1999-
-Year in film: 1960s ?
-Country: (East) Germany
-Who in clothing: boys ~8 Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2:
-Available on DVD: no
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low
-Rating: 3/10
-Rating: ***
-Comment: At least one or 2 boys in short Lederhosen with suspenders.

There is a short clip on YouTube called Wortschatz DDR: Milchgeldkassierer.

I don't know the exact title of this episode, according to the logo it's more likely from the series "Barbarossa - Das Geschichtsmagazin"  (2007-2011). The time is also unclear. Looks like the 60s but could also be the 70s or even later.

Brief scene.

So rating 3-4 only.
