Rheinsberg (1967)

Romance starring Cornelia Froboess
-Year: 1967
-Year in film: 1912
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: 2 boys ~10+5 ys, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2: Claire ~25, sailor dress, bathing costume
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: medium ?
-Rating:  6/10
-Rating: ******
-Comment: Cornelia Froboess (pictured) in a white/blue sailor dress (also in a red dress with white collar (no sailor dress) and a red bathing costume), at least 2 boys ~10-11 ys in light blue striped, short sailor suits, blue collars, 3 stripes, one without dickey), white flat sailor hats, and at least one younger boy in a short white sailor suit and I think also girls ~8-12. Also boys in breeches, cycling scenes and a freckled boy ~11 ys.
Also of course a lot of others in historical clothing set in Berlin of 1912, some in mostly striped bathing costumes, women with umbrellas etc.

I have only seen the first half of this movie and it's quite good, though I think only 2 rather short good sailor suit scenes of the kids. Novel by Kurt Tucholski, also starring Christian Wolff, Anita Kupsch and Werner Hinz.
Ernst Lubitsch Award for Froboess.

I have to check it completely and hope for a soon broadcasting. Rating 6 for now. There is also an East German remake in 1987 (IMDb says 1990), but I have to check this as well. That's a TV movie and I haven't found any pics or vids yet.

Das Mädchen vom Pfarrhof

Heimatfilm starring Waltraud Haas
-Year: 1955
-Year in film: 1950s
-Country: Austria, Germany
-Who in clothing: boys ~11+5 ys, Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2: men, Lederhosen
-Available on DVD: VHS only
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurence: low
-Rating:  3/10
-Rating: ***
-Comment: Some boys ~10-11 ys at school in Lederhosen in the middle of the movie, but bad view due to sitting in jackets. Singing (dubbed by the Vienna Boys Choir, or even members of that choir?)
Later some very young boys dancing with girls (and kissing), and men, mostly older, but at least one younger men in smooth finish or patina Lederhosen. At the end 2 altar boys (white, red clothing).

The film itself about a priest and his grown up daughter is quite good. After play by Ludwig Anzengruber, novel by Hans Schott-Schöbinger.
Also starring Erich Auer, Attila Hörbiger, Franziska Kinz and others. Due to the few Lederhosen scenes rating 3 only. Released on VHS (available in used condition). No clips on YouTube.

Pollyanna (1960)

Disney film about a 12 yo orphan girl
-Year: 1960
-Year in film: 1912
-Country: USA
-Who in clothing: Pollyanna ~13 ys, sailor dress
-Who in clothing 2: others historical clothing, bibs
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: medium
-Rating:  5/10
-Rating: *****
-Comment: 13 or 14 yo Hayley Mills (pictured) as 12 yo Pollyanna in at least 2 different sailor dresses. White collars and a silly looking hat. Also some other kids (girls only?) in sailor dresses or similar (pic bottom right) and of course others (grown ups) in historical clothing of the 1910s. And a ~ 9 yo boy Jimmy in bib overalls (see also my other blog, also rating 5).

Quite good movie with historical setting, but with an annoying orphaned girl. Though quite interesting clothing and plot. Mills won a Juvenile Award and was nominated for a BAFTA Film Award.

The movie is 134 minutes long and there is even an earlier b&w and some later versions and one animated and one live action series. I have to check the other versions too, but this is the most famous movie. Novel by Eleanor H. Porter. Also starring Karl Malden as a preacher.

Rating 5.

The Music Man (2003)

Musical, remake starring Matthew Broderick
-Year: 2003
-Year in film: 1912
-Country: USA
-Who in clothing: Winthrop ~ 10 ys, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2: others historical clothing, bibs
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low
-Rating:  4/10
-Rating: ****
-Comment: Cameron Monaghan (pictured) in a green grey sailor suit. Maybe also some few girls in sailor dress or similar with a white collar.

After the original 1962 version (starring Robert Preston and 7 yo Ronnie Howard, rating 9, see that entry) I considered also buying this version. But I discovered only 2 short scenes of this boy in a sailor suit (also dancing).
Same songs and similar plot, but I don't like this remake, not only because of the few sailor suit scenes. Quite interesting other historical clothes (mainly grown ups) and also some men and a black teen boy in bib overalls (see my other blog). My favorite song is Wells Fargo Wagon, which is also completely different shown here.
Sorry I don't buy this one but might have missed some scenes, so I have to wait for a broadcasting and update this later.

For more infos see my 1962 entry here, the 1962 version on my overalls blog (rating 10 with shirtless boys in bibs). The 2003 version on my overalls blog is still missing.

Auf Wiedersehen, Franziska! (1957)

Romance starring Ruth Leuwerik
-Year: 1957
-Year in film: 1957
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: boy ~ 6 ys, Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2: 2 older boys, Lederhosen ?
-Available on DVD: no ?
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurence: low
-Rating:  2/10
-Rating: **
-Comment: A young boy in buckskin Lederhosen with H-style suspenders (pictured). Short scene in the middle of the movie, also shown from behind. I don't know his name, mabye uncredited.
2 older boys ~10 ys at the beginning in a boat, but with jackets, so not sure if Lederhosen or other shorts.

I don't like very young boys, but as I running out of Lederhosen movies, I add also this one. Perhaps someone likes this movie. Famous Ruth Leuwerik (Die Trapp-Familie, rating 10).
The movie itself is quite boring to me. Typical romance. Quite funny at the beginning. I watched it at high-speed and don't remember it anymore and deleteted it almost completly. It's not a Heimatfilm. Remake of the 1941 b&W version. Haven't found DVD nor VHS.
Rating 2 only. Aka "Franziska"

Le château de ma mère

Family film / biography de Marcel Pagnol
-Year: 1990
-Year in film: ~ 1906
-Country: France
-Who in clothing: boy Lili ~13 ys, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2:
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurence: low
-Rating:  4/10 *
-Rating: ****
-Comment: Joris Morinas (pictured) in short dark blue sailor suit, dark blue collar, 3 stripes. Short dark stockings. Collar rather short.
This is the 2nd part of this 4 part Pagnol "Memories of Childhood" film series. Now I have finally checked all parts again completely.

The plot and movie itself is the best of all four; but with the least sailor suit scenes. One very short flashback from the 1st part (with Lili) and one quite short Christmas scene (pictured). The main character Marcel Pagnol (Julien Ciamaca) in very good beige longer shorts as shown before.
The movie I would rate 9 or 10, but for the short sailor suit scenes I can't rate higher than 3-4.
International title "My Mother's Castle", directed by Yves Robert. Nominated for a César.

For more infos about the other parts see their entries, especially the 1st and 3rd one.

-La gloire de mon père (rating 7)
-Le temps des secrets (rating 8), part 3, other actors, 2 boys, 1 girl
-Le temps des amours (rating 3), actors like part 3 + grown up Marcel

Gasparone (1956)

Austrian musical
-Year: 1956
-Year in film: 1820
-Country: Austria
-Who in clothing: Carlotta ~ 27 ys ?, sailor dress
-Who in clothing 2: others in historical clothings/uniforms
-Available on DVD: no
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurence: low
-Rating:  2/10
-Rating: **
-Comment: A young woman in a sailor dress (pictured), might be Anny Schlemm. Also I rember 2 sailors at the beginning. After the operetta of the same name by Carl Millöcker. 2nd of 4 film versions.
I don't like this movie. However the plot and setting is quite good.
People of a fictious village make a stand against a corrupt mayor. The scapegoat looks more like Zorro to me.

It looks partly like a stage play, also acting some kids (but without sailor suits or Lederhosen and very few scenes). Almost a Heimatfilm but not really. I think also few men in real Lederhosen. Few and quite bad songs.
The long red sailor dress and the anchors looks quite good. Rather short collar. 3 stripes. Also quite good and interesting other historical uniforms hats etc. But for this movie rating 2 only. Haven't found any DVD nor VHS releases nor clips. I also have to check the other versions. Maybe they are a bit better.
