Info 83: Import update - 263 more posts

Today, I could import 263 posts but I hadn't removed older imports from blog 2 that were duplicates, so just 100 new posts (=828 posts now). The 2nd blog had no more posts (I will set this blog to private). So I used the last backup file (4/4) which has the latest posts. Unfortunately, no pics work.

2018 3 posts, probably complete for what I have
2017 119 posts, complete
2016 117 posts, complete 
2015 24 posts, Dec-NOV complete, Oct probably partial (file 4)
Rest (2014, 2014, 2013) maybe only in file 3.

To do MO or later 12.30h file 3 (not publish simultaneously).
I wonder why that didn't work before.
But probably I try to import on my overalls blog instead.

Info 82: Import to 1st blog

After reading that duplicate posts/blogs aren't allowed, I will import everything to the 1st blogs starting with this blog at 12h MEZ.

I will 1st use the new blogspot export and carefully import without posting simultaneously. Then, I will test publishing some posts. I haven't done this before and don't know what happens to posts with titles already existing and the pics. After all, the early posts were exported to Wordpress. Some I had modified, updated, added tags and exchanged pics. This 1st step has few risks, but when I directly import the original backups there might be some problems

-duplicate posts
-internal links are defunct, at least of new posts
-most pics of new posts missing
-old posts might be overwritten, existing pics deleted (exchanged with wrong links)
-comments and stats might be deleted or duplicated

-layout and settings might change
-commenting and other functions like blog search might not work for some days.

Sooner or later I have to try this. I don't have that many posts here and pics are tiny. In 10 years of blogging I have on both blogs ~5000 posts and ~10,000 pics. I won't re-upload all pics and fixing all links manually. Rating 10-8 or 7 is possible.

Update: Import worked. There's always just one new export file. Wordpress had 4 for this blog. I could import 256 files. 99 were doubles, so I imported the new files (all new 41 from 2013 and some from 2012, Oct, Sept), so now 565 instead of 408 here. Some pics like the exclusive pics from Picasa/Google Photos still work.
Tomorrow I will retry the same file and hope for more other imports. Maybe it was too early for publishing and there will be the same 256 posts.

Info 81: Update archive.org works. Ratings 10-8

The blog is also there. Last snapshot from 2019-02-11. Also some (few) pics, but some pages are older than my 2018 backup including the A-Z lists.
Links and comments are also there but are redirected wrong. So copy the links to the missing Google Photo album links work, when removing the archive.org. content. As said, some internal blog functions don't work anymore, eg. click on earlier posts. (Have to add /page/2/) manually but seems not to work here at least for the latest snapshot. For more infos see my overalls blog.

Info 79: Update Import

Today, I was able to import another 157 posts to the 2nd sailor blog (2012 and 2013). There were different error messages and I will be able to continue tomorrow. More infos on my overalls blog. 

Info 78: Import / new blog

I tried to import my last wordpress backup to a new blog, but only 1 of the 4 files worked (automatically). Only 252 posts could be imported, all from 2011, so even less than on this blog. But some contain updated posts (texts). Pics are not imported, yet.

Unlike on my overalls blog, I haven't found any remaining working pics.

I have all posts (until 9/2018) but it would be too much work to import them all manually. ~2000-3000 posts on my other blog and >1000 here. And then adding photos and fixing links. I think, I will try to fix the XML files. I found a good converter for wordpress, but it doesn't convert into Google XML format. Maybe I have to convert twice. But there are limited imports each day. Any help?
