–Comment: I found this clip on YouTube from Karl Hoeffkes by coincidence. Showing boys (probably German) in traditional clothes. Pants with H-sytle suspenders, maybe buckskin leather. One younger boy looks like wearing a sailor suit. Tyrolean hats and wooden rifles.

This are probably personal movies (not sure if all taken by himself) and maybe also used in TV documentaries. He has lots of other clips from the 1930s.

I can't say much more and don't have the time to check them all. Probably others of interest as well.

For this scene rating 2-3 for now only. Most boys are  very young. Few Lederhosen scenes (?)

–Comment: At least this young, overweighted boy (I think Jakub Hladik) in a short sailor suit. Dark blue short pants and collar. White cap and stockings and also later in a wide, medium blue shirt and collar (rectangled and splitted at the front, 2 white stripes). Also several other (thinner and handsome) boys (like Adam Novak) in historical clothes like short pants with suspenders and also costumes and shirtless or less. Pic from ep1.

I don't know the complete series, yet, but checked most of it at high speed. Some other good scenes like swimming or being bathed or boys being tied at trees).

Looks quite interesting but there are rather few good (sailor suit) scenes. Correct title Bylo nás pět. Novel by Karel Polacek. English title There Were Five Of Us.

Currently rating 3-4 for the sailor suit scenes. Maybe more for the movie. Good setting. Reminds me of some (better) French movies.

Have been aired yesterday. Not Lederhosen but looking similar. And at least historical Scouting clothes. Quite interesting and funny scenes and good plot, but most boys are very young.

Also a young woman in overalls in s1e9 (overalls blog rating 6). Spin-off from Battlestar Galactica 1978 series. (There also partly same kids in silver coveralls, also on my overalls blog, story 85 (unrated)).

Rating 3-4 as no Lederhosen.

One in long pants (pictured), one other in short pants, white stockings or tights. At school at least one girl in a sailor dress or at least sailor-style white, rectangled collar with a thick blue stripe. Also traditional dutch clothes and pants with suspenders.

I don't know the complete movie, yet.

Should be a Dickens -like movie about orphans set in around 1900, and the first Dutch 3D movie. Aka Apestreken. English title Monkey Business.

Very interesting, but I can't say much more yet. As usual on Dutch movies, very handsome blond boys. Farm setting (barn and hay scenes (cows+pigs), similar like a "Kinderen voor Kinderen" clip (see my overalls blog)).

Rating at least 5-6 for now (for sailor suit scenes) maybe even more for the movie and actors. Also overalls scenes, soon on my other blog, rating 6.

Kids in Prague = Salto Mortale

Thanks very much David for pointing out the correct title of this series. The boy is called Pavel and is obviously Czech. And it's available on DVD. (Few scenes and available online, so no need for buying it).

Some scenes but rather few and short ones as assumed. I didn't expect a Circus setting. Set in 1969.

During research for more (b&w) movies starring Oliver Grimm in overalls (see the list of my other blog) I rechecked this one, many parts but not completely. Some scenes of some supporting actors but rather few and brief scenes.

Pic 1 at 23 minutes. The boy on the left wears grey or similar Lederhosen with light brown suspenders (he also appeared sitting outside at the scene pictured in pic 2 at 27 minutes. Also some other boys there but from a distance, some standing, and some wearing jackets or sweaters over them. Probably no smooth finished leather.

Pic 3 at 36 minutes. One group of boys in short buckskin Lederhosen and later one more close up walking coming from the left.

Rating 5 for now only. Some other movies might be also of interest, for this blog mainly Frühlingslied (1954) which is a Heidi movie. Other movies here:

One boy in short buckskin Lederhosen with H-style suspenders (Peter ?) and some boys in 1930s youth uniforms. Episode 2: Tod im Römerpark. Set in 1936. Also an 8 yo Jewish boy called Hans Abraham in shorts (pic 1 on right).

One or 2 brief scenes only. Some historical b&w footage scenes also b&w photos of a boy in Lederhosen (the real Hans ?). No/no notable scenes in ep 3+4. I missed episode 1 but don't assume Lederhosen there. I think not on DVD except for an expensive Mitschnittservice. No rebroadcastings in the near future (at least not on WDR) and not on the mediathek.

Short but very good scene, handsome actor.

It looks like that if under the regular sailor collars there's another black collar underneath. Interesting sailor collars. I like them wide and long.

English title: Face to Face. Novel by Ismael Kadare.

Probably no boys, maybe older teen boys (~18-19 yo?). I only have checked it at high speed.

Update: Alfons Zitterbacke (1966)

Has been aired yesterday (I missed some few parts at the beginning). At 39 minutes there are many boys in Lederhosen, at least 2 or 3 even in smooth finished (or nappa) Lederhosen which I never noticed before (pic 2 one in the background on the left. I think also some few with H-style suspenders but many in buckskin short Lederhosen .

And of course many scenes with Alfons in Lederhosen (and shiny shorts and speedo). Typical, Eastern short and tight Lederhosen with 2 zippers. The other scenes with shorts (on a boat) are maybe even better than the Lederhosen scenes.

I think still rating 7 (as these newly found scenes are very short and mostly in the background). But somehow I don't like much this 1960s movie. The 1986 TV series is much better, especially Alfons. Of course different fashion in the 80s. But for Lederhosen I gave rating 6 for that (needs to be rechecked).

La Storia (1986) = unknown movie #9 ?

As announced on my overalls blog, I'm still searching for my unknown coming-of-age movie and reached the year 1980 by checking all Italian movies from an Italian database. After finding "Voltati Eugenio" I searched other movies from Luigi Comencini (also see Cuore (1984) and "Le avventure di Pinocchio" here with sailor suits and I also know and checked "Un ragazzo di Calabria" and "Incompreso (Vita col figlio)" which have either very similar scenes, actors or settings.

Now I stumbled on "La Storia" and recognized this little boy called Useppe (according to IMDb he only starred in here). It's not one of the boys from the outside stairs scene but he has a 15 yo brother called Nino (credited as Mino on IMDb) and there seems to be more older boys as well according some behind the scenes pics. The setting is quite early (1940s).

But it's more likely that I mixed up two different movies (and I was searching for this previously unknown movie as well). Unfortunately I only have seen some very short clips and some pics and have to check the complete movie (2h30).

Maybe someone who knows this movie can help here?

At least quite good shortalls scenes (which are historical clothes as well) and I even found one more movie wearing overalls from this director (both soon on my overalls blog).

Update: The Mighty McGurk

I have now seen the first half of this 1947 classic movie starring Dean Stockwell fighting in pic 2, bottom.

At 40 minutes there's one boy wearing a sailor collar and rather long pants. 3 white stripes. Set in 1900.
