This is my 2nd blog about feature films, TV series and documentaries with boys, girls, men and women in sailor suits, Lederhosen and other historical clothing of the 19th century and beyond. I collect informations, trailer videos, low-res images and personal comments/ratings. This blog was introduced in 2011. 2012-2020 on Wordpress. Now I'm back. Update will take a while.

Update: Löwengrube
I have checked some of my rare movies (of all my blogs) and I have finally found this on YouTube. Previously rated 9-10 for Lederhosen scenes (!) and now have checked most or all of the missing earlier episodes (but at very high speed).
I only found this scenes set in 1914 of one older boy in a short sailor suit (ep. Wachablösung, Youtube D1 4). Obviously very few scenes before the 1930s and I haven't found my other sailor suit scenes at school yet. I also will recheck my Lederhosen scenes where I started watching this series on TV. I considered buying this on DVD. Luckily, I didn't. I only found one more toddler in Lederhosen.
Very few other scenes of boys in historical clothing. Some few b&w footage scenes of boys in 1930s youth uniforms (D5 3). The later Lederhosen scenes are still very good (season 2, D5 3).

Ein Leben lang kurze Hosen tragen
Crime film starring Tobias Schenke
-Year: 2002
-Year in film: 1962-1966
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: Jürgen 16, boy ~8 Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2: underwear, choir gowns
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurence: very low
-Rating: 3/10
-Rating: ***
-Comment: A young boy at 7 minutes in I think long buckskin Lederhosen with H-style suspenders and I think 16 or 17 yo Sebastian Urzendowsky as 15 yo Jürgen in dark brown or black short Lederhosen (without suspenders), looks like smooth finished leather (also on the German DVD cover) in the middle of the movie. Also a boy in underwear after and choir boys in gowns before that.
Very interesting movie. Completetly on YouTube but I have seen it then on TV. But despite the tiltle I only noticed these 2 brief scenes.
I like smooth finish Lederhosen but for the brief scene (darklit in a cave, also one close-up but very briefly shown) I can only give rating 3 for that. Also annoying the b&w confession tape scenes of Bartsch. In fact there's only one other short scene of interest. Movie rating 4-5. There are better movies with this subject, even with Urzendowsy as well (Guter Junge).
English title "The Child I Never Was".

Le fils du cordonnier
TV drama mini series. 3 ep
-Year: 1994
-Year in film: 1920s
-Country: France
-Who in clothing: Pierre 12, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2: others. hist. clothes
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurrence: very low
-Rating: 5/10 ?
-Rating: *****
-Comment: At least 12 or 13 yo Robinson Stévenin in a blue sailor suit with a blue collar (2 white stripes). A regular white shirt (not T-shirt) underneath.
I haven't found good pics or clips that I could use, so I took this pic I think from a magazine announcement.
Looks very interesting. This boy is handsome and I like shirt hair but he looks younger than 12 or 13.
It's released on a 3 DVD set but I assume rather few sailor suit scenes. Maybe there are also others in sailor suits or other interesting historical clothes as well. Novel and scenery by Hervé Baslé who also did other good similar series.
Rating 5 for now.
Update: Completely seen.

Rännstensungar (1974)
Drama (remake)
-Year: 1974
-Year in film: 1940s ?
-Country: Sweden
-Who in clothing: boys ~8 sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2: boy lace collar
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low
-Rating: 3/10 ?
-Rating: ***
-Comment: At least one boy in a short black or dark suit and a lace collar and a boy in a dark sailor suit and a short blue collar. Also other boys in knickers. Funny buttoned clown-like suit and long white stockings.
As announced in Bombi Bitt och jag.
This is a remake of a 1944 movie and are based on a 1944 play by Ake Hodell. There is a pic of a boy in a white sailor suit on the web of a play. I have to check for clips of some plays. There is also a related 2006 musical called Förortsungar. It's about a girl in a wheelchair.
Unfortunately I only found one very brief scene of the sailor suit at the end. Maybe some more scenes of other historical clothes. The other suit is more of interest here. Pic 1 at 23 minutes. Completely on YouTube.
Rating 3 for now.

Bombi Bitt och jag (1968)
Family mini series
-Year: 1968
-Year in film: 1890s ?
-Country: Sweden
-Who in clothing: boys ~8, girl ~13 sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2: boys, hist. clothes
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low *
-Rating: 2/10 ?
-Rating: **
-Comment: I think at least 1 or 2 boys in sailor suits (one in a dark blue sailor suit at a fun fair) and one older girl in a white sailor dress. Not sure if the kid in pic 2 with the white collar is a boy. Also of course others including Bombi Bitt in historical clothes (including hat) and boys in pants with suspenders.
1932 novel by Fritiof Nilsson Piraten. Bombi Bitt is the Swedish Tom Sawyer. English title Bombi Bitt and Me. There is also a 1936 movie (as well available on DVD) but I don't know that one. That DVD also includes "Rännstensungar (1944)" another interesting movie. At least the 1974 version and some stage playes includes boys in sailor suits and other historical clothes (coming soon).
The plot and the movies aren't that bad. Also shirtless scenes. But for the very few and short sailor suit scenes rating 2-3 only.

Les dernières vacances (1948)
Romance
-Year: 1948
-Year in film: 1930s
-Country: France
-Who in clothing: boys ~10,13,15 sailor suits
-Who in clothing 2: shorts. nightshirts
-Available on DVD: no
-I own: no
-Clothing occurrence: low
-Rating: 5/10
-Rating: *****
-Comment: 3 boys including the oldest one of the 4 or 5 brothers in short white sailor suits. Very long white collar flaps with one (?) thick, probably blue stripe and matching scarf. Also dancing in them. The teen boy wearing a striped dickes, the youngest boy none. Also the boys in shorts and a round cap and in nightshirts.
From my bedroom blog (all boys sharing one room, even 2 one bed), rating 5. Completetly on YouTube. But rather few scenes at about a third of the movie. Set in the early 1930s.
Quite interesting. I like white sailor suits and very long collars. And it's also rare for a teen boy wearing sailor suits.
But rating 5 only. B&w and bad image quality.

How We Used to Live (1968)
British ITV school TV
-Year: 1968-1996
-Year in film: 1902, 1950s, 1890s
-Country: UK
-Who in clothing: boys ~6-10 sailor suits
-Who in clothing 2: shorts
-Available on DVD: no ?
-I own: no
-Clothing occurrence: low
-Rating: 7/10 ?
-Rating: *******
-Comment: 2 boys in sailor suits in ep "1902-1926" set in 1914. There also episodes set in the 1900s and in the 1950s and more. Short and altar boys gowns (undressing gowns) but probably no Lederhosen.
The boy in pic 1 has a completely white collar and short pants and long black stockings and a straw hat (walking towards the camera. Side but no real rear view). And at least one more boy sitting on the ground (distance view) blue collar.
I don't know all episodes but I think only few good scenes. There are scenes shown in the living rooms with mainly younger kids. However maybe an interesting series.
Rating 3 for now.
Update: Also a much better pic , close up and handsome boy + girl (on top) set in 1902 and also other scenes like shirtless and 2 boys in a bathtub. I think I have to make entries on my bedroom blog as well. I missing the 1940s and bib overalls scenes. However most episodes I found are set in the 1890s/1900s. Rating 7 for now.
There are 2 different clips on YouTube one titled s05e01 -(2) in better quality and full length showing pic 1 and the bathtub scenes as well. He also wears a black suit and a white (non-sailor) collar. There's also an older boy.

Vater blieb im Krieg - Kindheit ohne Vater nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg
Documentary
-Year: 2012
-Year in film: 1950s
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: boys, girl Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2:
-Available on DVD: no
-I own: yes, partly TV recording
-Clothing occurence: medium
-Rating: 4/10
-Rating: ****
-Comment: Several boys and teen boys (including scouts and shirtless) in Lederhosen, with and without H-style suspenders, mainly or all of buckskin leather. Also a young thin shorthaired girl in high Lederhosen (pic 1 at 37 minutes, front + rear view). Handsome blond boy scouts (headshots, don't remember them in Lederhosen though at 24 minutes).
Pic 2+3 at 25 minutes. Not on the mediathek but completely on YouTube.
Had been aired 2 days ago (I missed the beginning). Very interesting documentary about kids after the War living without their dads. Unfortunately a typical docu with many interviews (including Gunther Emmerlich) and few good footage scenes.
But it's quite rare showing girls in Lederhosen as well (then and now). I also have few entries of boy scouts in Lederhosen.
Rating 4-5 only.
