El coche de pedales

Family film
-Year: 2004
-Year in film: 1959
-Country: Spain, Portugal
-Who in clothing:  boy ~11, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2:
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurrence: low
-Rating: 5/10 ?
-Rating: *****
-Comment: At least this visiting boy in a white sailor suit, wide, dark blue, good and typical collar and dark blue short pants. It's not the main character who is shown on pic 1 on the very left. Late setting but typical festive suit in Spain.

I only noticed one rather short scene at 44 minutes.

Finally I found this movie online. I even considered buying the DVD.

But obviously only few good scenes and the movie is also very weak. So instead of rating 9 just 5-6.

English title "The Pedal Push Car".

Moy pervyy drug

moypervyydrug moypervyydrug2

Family film
-Year: 1979
-Year in film: 1970s ?
-Country: Soviet Union
-Who in clothing:  boy ~11, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2:
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low ?
-Rating: 3/10 ?
-Rating: ***
-Comment: At least this unknown boy in a white sailor suit rarely combined with blue jeans. Short white collar.

Russian title "Мой первый друг". 63 minutes. Gorky Studios.

Sorry, I can't say much more about this movie. I don't like the 70s, curly hair and the other clothes and don't understand Russian. I think few scenes with that sailor collar.

Rare clothes, maybe an interesting movie but rating 2-3 only.

Story 93: Sailor collar: eye catcher and distraction

tempsdessecrets-story

One other interstesting thought. After rewatching Le temps des secrets (pictured, rating 8, after Marcel Pagnol), I found this scene at 24 minutes and I thought again about the purpose of a sailor collar.

Richard Oiry wearing white clothes and only the blue collar is different (also funny how it is folded by the wind).

Maybe the collar should lift the eye sight and deflecting from other, lower body parts? Remember Catholic or other religions and moral thoughts in these early days.

Younger kids were mostly clothed by their parents (moms) and the main purpose for a sailor suit was maybe the pride for the Marines and to look alike. See also other story entries, especially

/2012/01/18/story-16-sailor-collars-types-2-and-purpose/

and blog search for "wind" "flying" and "blowing".

I also have updated the previous story entry and a pic about a folded collar. (Sorry no more Lederhosen yet).

Story 92: Folded or ironed sailor collars

menofhonor4

Most sailor collars are plain and ironed, also most of real sailor men I've seen.

Recently "Men of Honor" (2000, pictured) starring Robert De Niro had been aired. One sailor wearing a white suit and a white collar (without stripes) which had been folded 4 times.

I wonder why it hadn't been ironed like the rest of the suit. Maybe due to space limitations on a ship? I have to verify that. Most (movies with) young boys I've seen wearing sailor suits and ironed collars.

But I think I have seen som few boys with folded collars as well (but I think on a ship too, maybe a high rated Soviet movie). I also have seen a collar, folded in the middle.

I prefer ironed collars or at least long collar flaps. I have to recheck some movies and my caps (which or on a different HD).

The movie also showing a boy in bib overalls (even underwater), rating 3 (story 78 entry) on my other blog.

Another story entry involving boys and sailor collars coming soon.

Update: Pic below is from Sekretnyy farvater (rating 10) with a collar folded in the middle.

Multipe times folded collar in Nahimovcy (1976), rating 6.

Hohe Tannen

hohetannen

Heimatfilm starring Gerlinde Locker
-Year: 1960
-Year in film: ~1960
-Country: Austria, Germany
-Who in clothing:  boys ~8-17 Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2: men, Lederhosen
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low ?
-Rating: 3/10 ?
-Rating: ***
-Comment: Some young men/older teen boys in longer pants (maybe buckskin leather) with H-Style suspenders, also at least one young men/older teen boy in short brown Lederhosen (without suspenders, see link) and at least one young boy in light grey Lederhosen without suspenders (probably the same boy as seen in the pic in the background between the 2 guys in Lederhosen).

One better, other pic 9 at

http://www.cinema.de/bilder/hohe-tannen-koehlerliesel,1316323.html

I'm not sure if I have seen that movie (aka Köhlerliesel) and I have only seen one brief clip recently. So I have to recheck it again the next broadcasting. But I doubt that I would like it. Rating 2-3 for now.

Starring Pero Alexander, Anita Gutwell, Harald Dietl and many others.

Originally I was searching for "Heimweh... dort wo die Blumen blüh'n" (1957, aka Heimweh dort wo die Blumen blühn / blühen). I think there are interesting scenes, not sure about Lederhosen. But I still couldn't find that for a long time. Update: No Lederhosen there.

Sorry, I haven't seen something interest involving Lederhosen, maybe shortly during the Oktoberfest.

Frog Dreaming (1986)

frogdreaming-sailor

Adventure film starring Henry Thomas
-Year: 1986
-Year in film: 1980s
-Country: Australia
-Who in clothing:  Jane ~11, sailor collar
-Who in clothing 2: Jane overalls, boys jeans
-Available on DVD: VHS only
-I own: no, partly TV recording
-Clothing occurence: very low
-Rating: 3/10
-Rating: ***
-Comment: One girl, probably Tamsin West ("Round the Twist)" in a white blouse and a white sailor collar. Scene at about 12 minutes. Also later in light blue bib overalls (on my other blog, rating 5).

I guess it's quite rare for older kids to wear sailor dresses or just sailor style clothes and that combined with regular jeans.

I like this rare movie (and of course prefer Henry Thomas here). Movie aka "The Quest", "The Go-Kids" and The Legend of Frog Dreaming.

For more infos see my overalls blog.

I prefer real sailor suits. Brief scenes, so rating 2-3. (Movie rating at least 6-7.) Currently available on YouTube.
