This is my 2nd blog about feature films, TV series and documentaries with boys, girls, men and women in sailor suits, Lederhosen and other historical clothing of the 19th century and beyond. I collect informations, trailer videos, low-res images and personal comments/ratings. This blog was introduced in 2011. 2012-2020 on Wordpress. Now I'm back. Update will take a while.

Die Jugendstreiche des Knaben Karl
Comedy film, Biography starring Robert Seidl
-Year: 1977
-Year in film: 1897
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: boys ~8-10 sailor suits
-Who in clothing 2: girl ~8 sailor dress, trad. clothes, uniforms
-Available on DVD: VHS only
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurrence: very low
-Rating: 5/10
-Rating: *****
-Comment: Had just been aired. (I have checked it before, but not completely and so I missed these few scenes which are at the very end of the movie).
2 boys sitting, rear view one with a blue wide and short collar, the other, right next to him with a long collar flap and a cap. Pic 2 showing a boy with a very long light blue collar and white stripes. One scenes later his front is shown, not close up (first I thought that this is a different boy). The collar appears a bit darker and he doesn't wear a scarf. The collar appears to be attached to the jacket and the jacket has buttons. One girl in a dark blue sailor-like dress (pictured just behind the boy). But she has no collar or a very short one. Also of course lots of others (mainly grown-ups and mainly women) in historical clothes including flat straw hats and men in firefighter uniforms.
Quite funny movie but there are much better ones. Robert Seidl as 15 yo Karl Valentin has a weird haircut and isn't handsome. There are some similar movies like the Ludwig Thoma /Hansi Kraus movies, but they are much better and more famous (also see my first entry, rating 8).
Some famous actors including Walter Sedlmayr, Gustl Bayrhammer, Beppo Brem and Hans Clarin. I wonder why that is not put on DVD.
Rating 5-6. Good sailor suits but very few good scenes. No close-ups.

Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson
Western starring Paul Newman
-Year: 1976
-Year in film: ~1870s
-Country: USA
-Who in clothing: Annie ~31, sailor dress
-Who in clothing 2: boy, hist. clothes
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low ?
-Rating: 2/10 ?
-Rating: **
-Comment: At least this young woman, I think 31 yo Geraldine Chaplin as Annie Oakley in a long blue greyish sailor-style dress including a long collar, wide dark blue stripes and a straw hat. Of course also others in historical clothing and at least one young boy (pic 2) also wearing a hat (I can't identify the rest of his clothes). Looks like a jacket also with stripes.
As told on my bib overalls blog, I'm still into Westerns. I searched a lot and there are few good movies (showing boys in overalls). There are many movies also showing boys (in historical clothes) and some are very good (like "River Of No Return") but unfortunatley not a question for my blogs. (Probably some kids wearing pants made from leather).
I have to check out this Western the next broadcasting but probably there are better Westerns. Pic 1 is from a Behind The Scenes clip. The others are from clips from the movie. Directed by Robert Altman.
Rating 2 for now.

A világ legrosszabb gyereke

-Year in film: 1980s ?
-Country: Hungary
-Who in clothing: boys ~9, 11 Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2:
-Available on DVD: no
-I own: no
-Clothing occurrence: low
-Rating: 5/10 ?
-Rating: *****
-Comment: At least this boy (Robert Kovacs?) in good short Lederhosen (or other material ?) with H-style leather suspenders and also bib overalls (see my other blog, rating 4). Also an older, darkhaired boy in long maybe buckskin leather bib overalls.
55 minutes and obviously not available on DVD. Title means The World's Worst Kids.
Currently I can't say much more about this movie and have to recheck it later.
Based on the 1973 novel by Nagy Katalin.
Not bad. Rating 5 for now. Short clip on YouTube.
Update: Completely checked. Unfortunately only one longer scene at the beginning only. But real Lederhosen and short. Look like dark blue, dark grey or (almost) black? Straps are dark brown. Rating 4-5. More scenes of the blonde boy in overalls. Update soon on my other blog.
