S'Waisechind vo Engelberg

Heidi-Heimatfilm starring Gustav Knuth
–Year: 1956
–Year in film: 1880 ?
–Country: Switzerland
–Who in clothing: boys ~9-11, Lederhosen
–Who in clothing 2: shorts
–Available on DVD: yes
–I own: yes
–Clothing occurrence: often
–Rating:  7/10
–Rating: *******
–Comment: Mainly one boy in high cut, beige buckskin Lederhosen with H-style suspenders, one other in longer cotton shorts with H-style suspenders (pic 3 at 1h01 on the left, is this Peter ?) he is also depantsed, wearing tighty whiteys underneath, suspenders still up (at 37 minutes). Some other boys in shorts and longer pants, some few might be out of leather, some maybe corduroy. Some few other boys in short Lederhosen at the beginning. One boy at the beginning and maybe in pic 4 wearing black or dark shorts or Lederhosen, might be smooth finished leather. But brief scenes and from a distance.

DVD already received today. Much better than thought and many (good) scenes and many boys. Remastered audio and video. Swiss-German and German audio, no subtitles. 1h28 min. The movie itself is somehow not the best but I have seen the last 2/3rd only at high speed, yet. Aka Heidemarie. Fanous novel by Johanna Spyri. The only Heidi movie with boys in real Lederhosen. Lederhosen scenes:

At 3 minutes: Outside school, at 5 minutes one boy in Lederhosen sitting on a railing, 18 min at a lake pic 4, 21 min inside house, slapping Heidi, 23 inside 2 boys walking brief rear view, 36 outside pic 2 (boy in Lederhosen coming down from the hayloft,  37 depantsing and hands tied, 54 walking pulling a hay cart and sitting on it let Heidi pull, 1h01 pic 3, 1h03 several boys standing phone call, 1h26 standing, walking, front+rear (best scene, quite long).

Very good, but rating 7-8 only compared to other movies. I will rewatch it and maybe update this.

Heidi (1968) rating 5

Heidi (1937) rating 4-

Info 216: S'Waisechind vo Engelberg (purchased)

heidemarie3

I have recently ordered this interesting Heimatfilm aka Heidemarie (1956). At least 2 boys showing, probably much more at school. 1 wearing H-style suspenders but pants not out of leather. The other boy could wear beige buckskin Lederhosen but unsure.

Heidi is a very good movie subject. Unfortunately most or all movies don't show Peter in Lederhosen.

Already received. See next entry. Better than thought.

The Tsarevich

–Year in film: 1918
–Country: USA
–Who in clothing: Alexei ~ 14 ys, sailor suit
–Who in clothing 2: man, sailor suit
–Available on DVD: yes

–Comment: Michael Fitzgerald ("Modern Family") in a short, dark blue sailor suit and a blue cap, blue collar, 3 stripes, striped dickey. Also a man in a white sailor suit and long blue collar.

And yet another Alexei Romanov movie. Unfortunately a short film (15 minutes) and the boy looking quite old and not very handsome. Directed by French Geoffroy Faugérolas, also starring Mark Moses.

Rating 3-4.

Nesthäkchen – update 3

One more update of this nice family TV series (rating 9). This time showing some more and different actors and sailor suits. For more infos and (better) pics of boys and girl also in Lederhosen see the other posts. There are many, very good scenes (mainly sailor suits) and I could make more posts but I think that's enough.

Pic 1 showing the youngest brother and his mom carrying his blue sailor suit and showing the collar (ep 2).

Pic 2 showing a different blond boy in a white sailor suit (blue collar, striped dickey, no scarf). I think this is after the beach scene in ep 6. Also 2 more boys in sailor suits sitting at a table.

Pic 3 showing a school scene in ep 4. One young blond girl in a blue sailor dress and a rare red collar and dickey.

Pic 4 showing the female teacher in a blue sailor suit with blue collar in ep 4. For more girls in white sailor suits doing sport see the other entry, update 2.

There's also a sailor man in ep 6.

Die Fledermaus (1946)

Comedy film starring Johannes Heesters
–Year: 1946
–Year in film: 1874 ?
–Country: Germany
–Who in clothing: boy ~10, sailor suit
–Who in clothing 2:
–Available on DVD: yes
–I own: no
–Clothing occurrence: very low
–Rating:  6/10
–Rating: ******
–Comment: One handsome boy in a short blue sailor suit, white-blue striped blouse, long grey stockings. Very brief scene at 5 minutes. No full rear view.

Happy Easter!

This is a very good scene. Based on the operetta by Johann Strauss, English title The Bat. Directed by Géza von Bolváry and partly a DEFA production. Filmed in 1944 (where sailor suits were still quite common and so not a costume) but obviously set in the 1870s like the operetta. Luckily already in color.

I like this sailor suit but for the brief scene rating 5-6 only.

There are also other movies based on the operatta and some are more famous like the 1962 version but probably no boys in there.

Wir Nachkriegskinder - ep 2

wirnachkriegskinder-ep2

Documentary in 2 parts
–Year: 2016
–Year in film: 1940s, 50s
–Country: Germany
–Who in clothing: boy ~10, Lederhosen
–Who in clothing 2: boys, shorts
–Available on DVD: no ?
–I own: yes, TV recording
–Clothing occurence: very low
–Rating:  4/10
–Rating: ****
–Comment: The short scene pictured is narrated by soccer star Uwe Seeler playing soccer after WWII around 1945. Not sure if the blond boy in Lederhosen showing him, but probably. Scene at 9 minutes H-style suspenders.

Most scenes are colorized. At the end one boy in longer shorts maybe buckskin Lederhosen as well (no suspenders shown), looks like a commercial.

As usual, German celebrities talking about their childhood after the War. This time other people, mainly actors. Scenes are about the mid 40s and 50s. Subtitle Zeit der Wunder.

Unfortunately only this brief scene but I like it. So rating 4. Doing sports in Lederhosen is a good idea. Available on the ZDF mediathek.

Edward the Seventh

edwardtheking1975

Family biography series, 13 ep
–Year: 1975
–Year in film: ~1875
–Country: UK
–Who in clothing: Prince Eddy, George, sailor suit
–Who in clothing 2: boys suits, woman sailor dress
–Available on DVD: yes
–I own: no
–Clothing occurence: very low
–Rating:  4/10
–Rating: ****
–Comment: 2 boys in white sailor suits and blue collars. I think they are Jerome and Christopher Watts as Prince Eddy (Albert Victor *1864 ?) and Prince George (George V. *1865) . Very brief scene in ep 7 Dearest Prince. This headshot and from a distance. Also this and other boys in regular suits in ep 2 and a lady in a white sailor dress, blue collar in ep 12.

I found it during research for more Alexei Tsarevich Romanov movies. He should starring in here (played by Bruce Purchase) but I haven't found him. Born in 1938 he's too old, maybe it's Alexander III. IMDb entries are getting more and more wrong.

Boys are quite handsome at least the one on the left.

Brief scene so rating 4-5 only.  Aka "Edward the King"

I also have updated my previous entry (Unsere Geschichte, smooth finish Lederhosen).
