Have been aired yesterday. Not Lederhosen but looking similar. And at least historical Scouting clothes. Quite interesting and funny scenes and good plot, but most boys are very young.

Also a young woman in overalls in s1e9 (overalls blog rating 6). Spin-off from Battlestar Galactica 1978 series. (There also partly same kids in silver coveralls, also on my overalls blog, story 85 (unrated)).

Rating 3-4 as no Lederhosen.

-Comment: 2 or 3 young boys in short light blue sailor suits but probably few good scenes. One with a very good long collar (3 white stripes), pic 1 near the beginning of the movie, probably set in the 1920s. Also some boy scouts in historical uniforms and kids in historical swimwear.

I found this during research for my overalls blog (IMDb tag one-room schoolhouse).

Quite interesting movie but the boys are very young and few sailor suit (and other) scenes.

Starring Kenneth Branagh and Cynthia Nixon. Nominated for 3 Golden Globes. 121 minutes.

Rating 3-4.

Sorry nothing much new about the Oktoberfest. Even the same movies as last year.

I found this by coincidence and it looks like an interesting movie (I haven't seen it completetly yet).

Starring Bruce Willis and Bill Murray; even nominated for an Oscar.

Maybe rating 5-6 for now.

-Comment: Several boys and teen boys (including scouts and shirtless) in Lederhosen, with and without H-style suspenders, mainly or all of buckskin leather. Also a young thin shorthaired girl in high Lederhosen (pic 1 at 37 minutes, front + rear view). Handsome blond boy scouts (headshots, don't remember them in Lederhosen though at 24 minutes).

Pic 2+3 at 25 minutes. Not on the mediathek but completely on YouTube.

Had been aired 2 days ago (I missed the beginning). Very interesting documentary about kids after the War living without their dads. Unfortunately a typical docu with many interviews (including Gunther Emmerlich) and few good footage scenes.

But it's quite rare showing girls in Lederhosen as well (then and now). I also have few entries of boy scouts in Lederhosen.

Rating 4-5 only.

-Comment: 2 girls in blue/white sailor dresses. Blue collar. 4 thin stripes, at least the teen girl (only to see at close up scenes). Also some younger boys in shorts and also boy scouts or similar in historical uniforms and hats. The little girl (pic 2) has a shorter skirt and red ribbons in her hair. These bus stop scenes at the beginning and end.

The same director as in A Pál utcai fiúk (1969)


I checked for other versions of that other movie (there are about 7 movies, including one starring Mario Adorf, some b&w movies and even a very modern docu-like version) but I haven't found any other featuring boys in sailor suits.

This movie is called The Toth Family and I don't like it. 1964 novel by Istvan Örkeny. There is also at least one other, Belgian b&w 1971 movie "De familie Tot", but I haven't found much about that.

-Comment: Christopher Norton not in a real sailor suit, but in a good short green suit with a good big white collar, white stockings and a flat straw hat. Looks quite feminine and rich with his curly blond hair and round glasses. Also some other kids in historical clothing, at least 2 boys (including the main character Ben Oxenbould in scout looking clothes with a yellow pointed scarf and also some comic looking clothes /pants with suspenders. Also pirate costumes and also some scenes without clothes (skinny dipping and running, back view only) and also other shirtless scenes.

Not directly sailor suit or Lederhosen related, but some very good historical clothing and other scenes. Probably most of my readers will know this movie. It's one of my favourite movies and one of maybe 3 or 4 movies which I still have completely left on VHS. Since some few years it's available on DVD, but I haven't bought it yet. It's also quite often rebroadcasted, but I haven't seen it completely for some years, so I have to check it more carefully for other interesting clothing scenes.

Also some humiliation scenes but I don't remember real spanking. Funny kissing scene with Snootle.

I have to check this again the next broadcasting. For the movie I would give a rating of at least 9. For the clothing scenes rating 5 for now.

Today I searched on flickr for Lederhosen and scout pics. All are with Creative Commons license (mostly cc-by-sa-nc-nd).
Most pics are from Oktoberfests (partly in Florida). One with sailor suit. Few free scouting pics. I also searched for scout films elsewhere but none yet with real Lederhosen.
I also found a good album with vintage Lederhosen pics on flickr (but those are webfinds and might be copyrighted).

Info 2: PD images - Non-film

Like on my overalls blog I will also search for Public Domain images and other infos of clothing history. I have created an open album on Picasa, but there are few pics yet. Pic is showing German boy scouts /Bündische Jugend. Pic is from Wikimedia commons Category:Deutsche Jugendbewegung. There are more pics of this event. Funny that the description/city of the boys are wrong.
