Sohn ohne Heimat

Heimatfilm, director Hans Deppe
-Year: 1955
-Year in film: 1950s
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: Peterle ~ 9 ys, Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2:
-Available on DVD: VHS only
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurence: low
-Rating:  4/10
-Rating: ****
-Comment: A young blond boy in a bit oversized buckskin Lederhosen with patina. I don't know his real name, uncredited on databases. Sadly only 2 short scenes. First he gives a bone to a dog (pic right), than a bit longer scene while working on a field and talking to a man who said he has dirty black hands like a "negro". Novel "Der Sohn der Hagar" by Paul Keller (it's not the novel Sohn ohne Heimat by Luis Trenker). Film is also not very good, starring Werner Krauss, Elisabeth Flickenschild, Gunnar Möller, Heinrich Gretler, Eva Probst and Wolfgang Gruner. Can't rate higher than 3-4 for this, but could be worse. No clips on YouTube. No DVD.

Perfect Game (2000)

Baseball family video starring Patrick Duffy
-Year: 2000
-Year in film: ~2000
-Country: USA
-Who in clothing: young men, corps, collars
-Who in clothing 2: girls, women overalls, shortalls
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low ?
-Rating:  3/10 ?
-Rating: ***
-Comment: At least 2 young men of a marine corps at a baseball game (pictured) with black or dark blue uniforms with collars and sailor hats. Also some girls and women in different shortalls and bib overalls.
Very good family film (rated PG). Not to be confused with the 2009 film "The Perfect Game". I haven't seen the complete film, but assume few sailor suit scenes and can only rate 3 for now for those. For more infos about this film and bib overalls, see my other blog (there rating 7/10). No trailer.

Pünktchen und Anton (1953)

Family film, novel by Erich Kästner
-Year: 1953
-Year in film: 1950s
-Country: Germany, Austria
-Who in clothing: boys ~9 ys, Lederhosen, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2: girl 10, overalls
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low ?
-Rating:  5/10 ?
-Rating: *****
-Comment: At least one boy in buckskin Lederhosen and one in a sailor suit at a zoo, maybe more. Also girl "Pünktchen" (Sabine Eggerth, on right, see also color Heimatfilm "Solange noch die Rosen blüh'n" as 13 yo girl in Lederhosen, previous entry, rating 6).

I don't remember this complete film but this is a very good film, novel and play by Erich Kästner. I believe that this is set in the 1950s (novel published 1931).
Also starring Hertha Feiler (2nd wife of Heinz Rühmann), Paul Klinger and others. International title "Punktchen and Anton".
For more infos about bib overalls and this film and the 1998 remake, see my overalls blog (rating 3 for bib scenes for this 1953 version).

I assume rather few Lederhosen and sailor suit scenes, but I kinda like this version. Some b/w films are better than their color remakes. Rating 5 for now. No trailers.

Solange noch die Rosen blüh'n

Heimatfilm starring Hans Moser
-Year: 1956
-Year in film: 1950s
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: girl Toni 13 ys, Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2: boys, men Lederhosen
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurence: medium *
-Rating:  6/10
-Rating: ******
-Comment: Sabine Eggerth as girl Toni in buckskin Tracht Lederhosen (pictured) also with a Tyrolean hat. She is quite often shown and also miking a goat. Some few boys and men in Lederhosen. I first thought that Toni is a boy (also an actress inside the film did) and she is a bit thin. But something different than always Michael Ande.

One boy in longer Lederhosen in a short scene later in the film (pic top right). One boy at a bowling scene (bottom left on right, girl at the clock) in a taditional grey suit with H-style suspenders, looks like Lederhosen, but are cotton fabric. ~4 boys playing in the background, also short scene, girl on right. Also men in longer Lederhosen.

Directed by famous Hans Deppe, starring Hans Moser, Willy Fritsch, Hertha Feiler (2nd wife of Heinz Rühmann) and Eva Probst. Sabine Eggert also starred in "Pünktchen und Anton (1953)" and "Seine Tochter ist der Peter" (1955 in Lederhosen), later also in bib overalls. Quite rare a (teen) girl in Lederhosen. Rating 6-7 was correct, however quite unusual with a girl in Lederhosen. I also don't like her curly black hair.

Pünktchen und Anton 1953 also with her in bib overalls (see my other blog) but also boys as well in Lederhosen and sailor suits. See that entry.

For a pic of the milking scene, see the announcement post at

Ukradená vzducholoď

Fantasy film, novel by Jules Verne
-Year: 1967
-Year in film: 1891
-Country: CZ, I
-Who in clothing: boy ~10 ys,women, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2: other historical clothing, uniforms
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: often ?
-Rating:  4/10 ?
-Rating: ****
-Comment: At least one boy in a blue sailor suit, blue collar, and also women in sailor dresses and lots of historical clothings and uniforms . I found this movie by coincidence and hadn't the time yet to watch it completely. But an interesting movie aka "The Stolen Airship", after novel "Two Years' Vacation" by Jules Verne. Directed by Karel Zeman 1910-1989 ("Krabat"). I have to check again, but rating 3-4 for now. I prefer color films, though interesting plot about 5 boys who stole the airship at the 1891 Prague exhibition. Filmed in 1966, partly live action, animation and drawings.

The Sound of Music - Ein Musical kehrt heim (2)

-Who in clothing 2: boys ~10,13, Lederhosen
-Available on DVD: no ?
-I own: yes, partly TV recording
-Clothing occurence: low *
-Rating:  6/10 *
-Rating: ******
-Comment: At least 1 boy at the casting in longer buckskin Lederhosen (unpictured), and one cast of the von Trapp kids in white sailor suits (blue collars, pictured on top with Uwe Kröger as Baron von Trapp whistling) in part 1, and kids at rehearsal incl 13 yo freckled Patrick von Schorlemer as oldest boy Friedrich (bottom pic on right) in part 2.

Please note that I don't know this 2011 musical and this is about the TV documentary only. (This is not a blog about musicals) Part 3 has not been aired yet and will be updated. Part 1 is mainly about the casting (200 kids). Part 2 is about building the scenery, rehearsals and family life of some kids. Each kid character has 3 casts of actors. Haven't seen Lederhosen scenes yet except for the one mentioned. The youngest Trapp son wears (at some time) in the musical light brown Tracht Lederhosen with H-style suspenders (see clip), Friedrich dark Lederhosen (with jacket). I have also seen different sailor suits on publicity pics (partly light blue and dark blue) for the Moscouw cast.

Story 10: (To) clean children in sailor suits

This story is about the TV series "Berkeley Square (1998)", see that entry for more details.

Pics on top showing a British boy (I don't know his name) in short light blue sailor suit (white collar, 2 thin stripes). He has to stretch out his arms that the nanny can verify if his hands are clean (enough). Looks very strict (though set in 1902, but was probably like that). Also the white collar, the white shirt and light blue sailor suits also looks very clean. I think he wouldn't be able to play (outside) like this without getting dirty. I wonder if his long hair is authentic.

Pic below showing a boy (the same? in episode 5) in a beige sailor suit (also white collar) thicker stripes and a bow/string tie instead of a long scarf. His hair is also not so wild and his face and mouth is being cleaned by a nanny before he might go to his parents (or else) in the dining room.
Can't the boy wash himself? Or is it not clean enough? But I remember that still in the 1970s, grandmothers liked to clean the faces and mouths of their grandchildren (using spit) if they gets dirty after eating (chocolate).
The girl was singing a dirty song and the boy talked about washing out her mouth with soap. Also an interesting fact of cleanliness. I heard that before (remembering Doug Ptolemy with soap in his mouth in "You Can't Do That on Television", see that entry, but without soap pic.)
Not sure about spanking scenes here. I like especially white collars. See also Story 1: Untidy sailor suits.

Berkeley Square (1998)

BBC TV drama series, 10 episodes
-Year: 1998
-Year in film: 1902
-Country: UK
-Who in clothing: boys ~ 8, 10 ys, sailor suit
-Who in clothing 2: girl, sailor dress
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: medium ?
-Rating:  8/10
-Rating: ********
-Comment: I think at least 2 boys in different sailor suits and at least 2 girls in sailor dresses. Pic top right showing a boy.
I found this series by coincidence. It was not on the period drama list, but I got a video recommendation because of one title from that list. I don't know all episodes completely but it looks very good. I think there are lots of different kids, so I don't know their names.
Some interesting scenes cleaning the face of a boy and controlling his hands. Also mentioning to clean the mouth of a girl with soap.
See also Story 10

/2011/10/story-10-to-clean-children-in-sailor.html

Pictures: Top left from ep 2. A boy in light blue short sailor suit. White collar 2 thin stripes. Top right a boy in dark blue sailor suit, 2 thick stripes at a fun fair shooting. Long medium blue scarf. I think long pants, those also with white stripes. Both with straw hats. Bottom left a girl in ep 5. The collar looks like to be worn wrong side. Bottom right also ep. 5 a boy with a beige sailor suit, white collar, 2 medium blue stripes and a bow tie. Unpictured a girl in dark blue sailor dress in ep 4 in the woods getting a piggyback.

The kids are not always shown but most of the time of it in sailor suits. I have to check or purchase this series, I assume medium sailor suit scenes. On of the best UK series with sailor suits yet. However kids are quite young. Rating 8-9 for now. Plot is about 3 nannies. Starring Claire Wilkie, Viktoria Smurfit and Tabitha Wady. No trailer.

When the Boat Comes In

BBC series, 51 ep. in 4 seasons
-Year: 1976-1981
-Year in film: 1919
-Country: UK
-Who in clothing: girl ~10, sailor dress ?
-Who in clothing 2: boys breeches/shorts
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low ?
-Rating:  2/10
-Rating: **
-Comment: At least a girl in brown sailor dress or similar at least with a beige collar, 2 stripes and some boys in breeches/short pants and of course others in historical clothing. Both pics from episode 1.6.
Another one from my period drama list. I don't know this complete series, but I assume rather few scenes with sailor suits (probably also few scenes of kids) though quite good setting. Starring James Bolam, James Garbutt and Jean Haywood. 5 BAFTA Award nominations. No real trailer. Rating only 2-3 for now. There are definitely better films and series with sailor suits.
Update: I forgot to mention women with collars, but I think not real sailor dresses. And no stripes.

Story 9: What underwear in Lederhosen?

I wonder what kind of underpants people wear beneath Lederhosen during the decades. In some films it can be (partly) seen.
I don't remember at the moment any films with dressing/undressing scenes, but sometimes it can be seen while sitting or lying down or in case of very short Lederhosen the underwear sometimes peeping out and some parts and the color is visible. I have to investigate that further, but I assume the following.

I think during the 1970s, 80s and maybe later they usually wore briefs, probably tighty whities (at least in Germany and Austria).
In some DEFA films (East Germany) many boys wore tight and short Lederhosen and I think I saw some parts of white underwear beneath the Lederhosen (see the DDR film entries of the last days).

In the 1950s and 60s I assume a bit larger and also mostly white (boxer) briefs. Maybe larger than the speedos of that time, which were also larger than today.

But I wonder what they wear nowadays. (Satin) boxer shorts under Lederhosen? That doesn't match the traditional folk clothing.
Usually it can't be seen under them but Lederhosen would be some sort of costume of another time. And maybe the same for the hairstyles. (Men with long hair).
And also with sailor suits. See "Ein Richter zum Küssen". Haircut of the 80s and sailor suit.

In the film "Toni Goldwascher" (longer and a bit oversized smooth finish Lederhosen, rating 9, see that entry) the teen boy wears dark blue underwear, but probably no boxer shorts.

I have to check other films and will update this if I found something.
What women wear underneath and that some people might wear no underwear is a different chapter.

Update: Good undressing scenes of both boys and girl in Lederhosen in "Die Mädels vom Immenhof" (rating 9). However they wear swimwear underneath. The medium blue speedo could also be briefs.

Young Adam

Thriller starring Ewan McGregor
-Year: 2003
-Year in film: 1950s ?
-Country: UK, France
-Who in clothing: boy ~10, sailor suit ?
-Who in clothing 2:
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low ?
-Rating:  3/10
-Rating: ***
-Comment: A young boy (pictured on left) maybe in a salior suit. I can't even say that for sure. Maybe it's just a sweater with a pattern. I think only few scenes (at ~1:03 min). I also don't know his name. He also wears bib overalls, but I think also in few and short scenes (see my overalls blog, also rating 3, and  2 men in bibs). The movie is quite good but weird and has a lot of erotic and SM content (of grown ups). Even if it's not a sailor suit it looks like one and there are also a lot of scenes on a ship. A bathtub scene with the boy (tin bathtub outside at the riverside). A woman sittign at a beach has a blue dress with some white stripes, but also it's not a real sailor dress. But I can't rate any higher than 3 for now.
For more infos, see my other blog.

Girl has brown hair (pigtails). I searched the films starring Heinz Erhard and found this film. There is a VHS release and a new (cut) DVD release (maybe also some foreign releases). I don't know this film. Drama starring O.W. Fischer (as Swedish Dr. Munthe), Sonja Ziemann, Heinz Erhardt and Rosanna Schiaffino. Film aka "Das Buch von San Michele", international title "Story of San Michele". I haven't found any clips on the web except for general trailer of the "Samstag Nachmittag Kinoh!" series from the DVD publisher. Novel "Das Buch von San Michele" by Axel Munthe. I don't know the name of the girl, if others in sailor suits (or Lederhosen) and the amounts of sailor dress scenes. Rating 4 for now. I hope for a soon brodcasting.

Philipp, der Kleine

DEFA family film
-Year: 1976
-Year in film: 1970s
-Country: East Germany
-Who in clothing: Philipp ~7 ys, Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2: boys ~10, Lederhosen
-Available on DVD: VHS *
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurence: medium
-Rating:  5/10
-Rating: *****
-Comment: Andij Greissel as Phillip the Small (left picture in the middle) in big Lederhosen with H-style suspenders (maybe buckskin with patina or almost smooth finish) and I think 2 other boys with buckskin Lederhosen with suspenders and some other without suspenders. One other boy with black smooth finish Lederhosen playing soccer (pic right).
Good DEFA film with a good plot about a magic whistle which can change the size of objects, cars and animals. Philipp is often shown with his cat, which is now a small Lion. Quite funny and also some scenes at school. Main character often in Lederhosen, but Philipp the Small is very small and young. Only one very short good scene as pictured left and one short soccer scene with the boys on the right.
International title "Phillip the Small", "The Marvelous Music of Phillip the Small" and French "Philippe le petit". Note the different spelling of Philipp. Script (and novel?) by Christa Kozik, directed by Hermann Zschoche. 64 minutes. There is at least a dubbed US NTSC VHS, not sure if this was released officially. IMDb says 1978.
For the few Lederhosen scenes of the older boys I can only rate 5. No trailers.

Der tapfere Schulschwänzer

DEFA family film
-Year: 1967
-Year in film: 1960s
-Country: East Germany
-Who in clothing: Thomas, boys ~10 ys, Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2: younger boy, Lederhosen, girl sailor dress
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: often ?
-Rating:  5/10
-Rating: *****
-Comment: I think André Kallenbach and some other boys of 4th grade in buckskin Lederhosen, some with suspenders. I don't know/don't remember this complete DEFA film, but it looks quite good. Probably funny family entertainment. Directed by Winfried Junge ("Die Kinder von Golzow" 1961-2007). Also starring Hartmut Tietz as father and Günter Ott. Typical but good East German film, set in Berlin about a boy who missed school and saved the lives of 2 kids. On the pic below he gave his younger brother (also in Lederhosen) a piggyback. I have to check this complete film again and hope for a soon broadcasting. Not sure if I would buy this DVD. Boys look quite young. I prefer Heimatfilms. Not sure if any in smooth finish Lederhosen. Rating 5-6 for now. But could be worse. No clips on YouTube.

Update: Also at least one young girl in a medium blue sailor dress, blue collar.

The Dinah Shore Chevy Show

TV music show. 3 Emmys
-Year: 1956-1963
-Year in film: 1950s
-Country: USA
-Who in clothing: Dinah ~40, sailor dress
-Who in clothing 2: men, sailors
-Available on DVD: no?

-Comment: Dinah Shore (pictured) in a white sailor dress and several sailores in dark (blue) sailor suits. White collars with one stripe (see clip). I don't know this complete series and found this by coincidence but assume few scenes (this is from the intro). Perhaps someone likes this. Also starring Shirley MacLane, Dale Evans and Roy Rogers. Directed by William Asher "The Bad News Bears" series.

Unknown 1 = Hahó, Öcsi!

Finally I found by coincidence the title of this film. "Hahó, Öcsi!" A 1971 Hungarian film. For more infos see it's entry.

Das Schweigen im Walde (1955)

Heimatfilm, novel Ludwig Ganghofer
-Year: 1955
-Year in film: ~1950s
-Country: Germany
-Who in clothing: Gustl ~9, boy ~7, Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2: men Lederhosen
-Available on DVD: no
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurence: often
-Rating:  7/10
-Rating: *******
-Comment: Heinz Christian in buckskin Lederhosen (pictured on left), often shown and a younger boy, barefoot (only this short scene, showing front and back). And some men in Lederhosen. Also Schuplatter dance (one man alone). Also Gustl in nightshirt.

Good Heimatfilm with perfect landscape scenes, cottages and some dramatic elements. Boy is often shown. At the end he is riding on a donkey in Lederhosen. However he is very young and Lederhosen are a bit too big. But could be worse. Good plot, first color version of Ganghofer's famous novel. Directed by Helmut Weiss and starring Rudolf Lenz, Sonja Sutter, Angelika Hauff and Rolf Pinegger. Couldn't find any releases on DVD nor VHS. Although the age of the boy I rate 7. I also have to check the other versions. No clips.

Update: The novel is set in ~1899, but according to the (few) vehicles, this film must be set in the 1950s. However no electric lights in the buildings.

-Who in clothing 2: others, historical clothing

-Clothing occurence: medium ?
-Rating:  7/10
-Rating: *******
-Comment: I think this must be Daniel Williams as young Prince John and Brock Everitt-Elwick as young Prince George both in as well white sailor suits with long white pants on a beach (pictured top left), short blue sailor suits and short white sailor suits with blue pants (all with blue collars, 3 stripes). Also later older Prince John (Matthew James Thomas ~14 ys, pic below) in blue and white long sailor suits. Also real sailors and I think also women in sailor dresses.

Looks like a very good BBC film (180 min, 2 parts) about the British Prince who died of epilepsy aged 13 in 1919 (true story). I hadn't the time yet to watch the complete movie. Contrary to the French Pagnol films, this are real and complete sailor suits. And a strict father (not sure about spanking scenes). Very good and authenthic setting and props. Some good scenes, I think I will make a story entry (eg about stockings which are shown).
This Emmy awarded mini series was directed by Stephen Poliakoff and also starred Rollo Weeks, Tom Hollander and Miranda Richardson.

However the main character is very young here (most of the time), Prince George, Duke of Kent is 3 years older. So most scenes must be set in ~1912. But good that also a teen boy is shown in sailor suit.
I have to check this completely, but can't rate any higher than 7 for now for this young actors (compared to other entries).

Also starring Sam Page as Tsarevich Alexis. See other Alexis Romanov movies like Rasputin (1996), Rasputin and the Empress and Anastasia: The Mystery of Anna. And maybe more later.

Update: See also Story 11

And that's the real Prince John in 1913:

Le temps des amours

TV biography, novel by Marcel Pagnol, part 2
-Year: 2007
-Year in film: ~1906, 1911
-Country: France, Belgium
-Who in clothing: boys ~7-11 ys, men, sailor suits
-Who in clothing 2: others, historical clothing, hats
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: yes 2 DVDs *
-Clothing occurence: low *
-Rating:  3/10
-Rating: ***
-Comment: Some supporting actors in sailor suits (few short scenes of boys and men). Sailor hats and flat straw hats. Boys at (elementary) school, some with completely white collars some with blue collars with stripes. Most scenes at school (6th grade) with black or dark blue capes. Except for a short flashback from part 1, no girls in sailor dresses. Marcel wore pants till over the knees.

I am very disappointed of this 2nd part. The 1st part is called "Le temps des secrets" (rating 8/10, see that entry)

/2011/10/le-temps-des-secrets.html

First, 11yo Marcel Pagnol (played by Richard Oiry, pictured top left on left and big pic on right) is only shown in the first half of this 2nd film. At 0:50:00 there is a 16 yo Marcel (Robin Causse, looks like 20). And even the 11yo didn't wear sailor suits here (maybe to show the end of his childhood after entering the 6th grade). His friend wore a sailor's hat (which Marcel often carried). At least some other boys with sailor suits (pic bottom right is set when Marcel is 16) and some good historical other clothings and hats. Some women with collars, but also short scenes in the background.

Of course it's interesting what Marcel became later, but I had expected more (with that title). No real love scenes, 1 kissing scene, however it's rather a family movie (rated G in France). Both films are available separately and I wouldn't buy this 2nd part, though good historical setting. For more infos see the entry of the 1st part.
No men and women in sailor suits in the first part.
For film and sailor suits scenes I can only rate 3.

Heimweh nach dir, mein grünes Tal

Heimatfilm starring Rudolf Lenz
-Year: 1960
-Year in film: ~1960
-Country: Austria
-Who in clothing: 2 boys ~11 ys, Lederhosen
-Who in clothing 2: men Lederhosen, others in hist. cl.
-Available on DVD: VHS only
-I own: no, party TV recording
-Clothing occurence: low *
-Rating:  4/10 *
-Rating: ****
-Comment: 2 boys in I think buckskin Lederhosen (pictured left) and at least 2 men in Lederhosen (1 on right). Also a very young boy and girl and others with Tyrolean hats and historical clothing. A band in black historical clothing (right on right) not sure if also women or teen boys in it.
Unfortunately I missed the first 30 minutes of this film and just recorded this scenes. The last hour no Lederhosen at all, not even men. Typical Heimatfilm, but rather weak. Also starring Anita Gutwell, Carl Wery and Sieghardt Rupp. Directed by Hermann Leitner.

The man on the right was just fighting on the ground with another man (not in Lederhosen). At the end a mixed children's choir singing in a church at a wedding. Possibly dubbed with a boys' choir. No Lederhosen. One boy in a dark green Trach suit.
The black suspenders of the boy look like smooth finish, but I could only see a small part of his brown short Lederhosen, appears buckskin with patina (?)
I hope for a soon rebroadcasting. If someone knows this film, please comment. No clips/trailers. I assume few or very few Lederhosen scenes, good landscape. Rating 3-4 for now.

Story 8: Undressing sailor suit, update

I now have bought and completly seen "Les temps des secrets" and "Les temps des amours" (Pagnol). See that entry (rating 8), film 2 coming next.

2 scenes (along others) including sailor suit are quite interesting, so I make this story entry. 11 yo Marcel Pagnol (played by Richard Oiry, pictured on top and bottom on right) undressed his sailor suit shirt and collar. Just pull it all over the head. (Nothing more of undressing/dressing shown). Is that the correct way? Note that the pants don't match to a real sailor suit. He changed into a ridicoulous costume of a knight with a sieve as helmet.

On pic below, the friend of Marcel grapped his collar and pushed him to come with him. Also interesting straw hat and clothing. I think he is sort of a farm boy collecting herbs.
Also a lot of other good scenes in this film (also a girl and other boys in sailor suits). For more infos see my updated entry (including 4 new pics).

/2011/10/le-temps-des-secrets.html

Also a very good film (rating 10) with dressing/undressing sailor suits is "Lord Jeff" (1938, b/w).

Lark Rise to Candleford

Drama TV series, 40 episodes in 4 seasons
-Year: 2008-2011
-Year in film: ~1880s
-Country: UK
-Who in clothing: kids, historical clothing, breeches
-Who in clothing 2: women with collars
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low *
-Rating:  3/10 *
-Rating: ***
-Comment: Some boys and girls (poor and rich class) in historical clothing, also some in breeches or similar. At least 2 women in weird clothes with white collars (pictured, in episode 8). Pic top left from ep. 2, pic below from episode 37 (4.3) boy also in breeches. Haven't noticed any kids in sailor suits.

This is the first movie I found of the mentioned period series list 2 posts ago. I don't know this complete series but looks quite good. Novels by Flora Thompson. Starring Olivia Hallinan, Julia Savalha and John Dagleish. The series won a TRIC Award. Good setting and historical clothings including hats, but no real sailor suits. I have to check again but can't rate higher than 2 or 3 for now. For another series of this list "Foyle's War" (set in WWII) featuring a woman in beige bib overalls, but also some British kids in historical clothings, see my other blog.

Info 27: Rating 1

I am not sure what films I should rate with 1. A film with very few scenes (of sailor suits or Lederhosen)? A film with grown ups only? It's nothing special about a Heimatfilm with men in Lederhosen or a film with real sailors.

I recently saw "Ein fast anständiges Mädchen" (1963) aka "Una chica casi formal" starring Liselotte Pulver. The film (no Heimatfilm) is quite unusal and quite good, set in Spain. I missed some few parts in the middle as I was partly watching and recording something else. I noticed one small scene with a very young boy in (short?) sailor suit. I was too late to record this. I think it's not fair to rate this film with 1. I think I shouldn't make entries for very young kids (same for my overalls blog with young toddlers in bibs). I also didn't expect sailor suits, perhaps rather Lederhosen here. However it's quite unusual for a boy in the 1960s to wear sailor suits.

Maybe I should rate a film with 1 if there were very annoying actors, faked clothing or the films is extremely bad. I have some films rated 2 and I asked myself what is the worst, but won't rate any with 1.

I will make some list entries, maybe I also will make a list of worst films.
I also make lists of Heimatfilms > 1970s and sailor suits set >1940s. And a list of sailor suits (favourite, unusual, unusual long collars etc).
However most readers obviously prefer Lederhosen.

David Copperfield (2000)

TV biography starring Sally Field
-Year: 2000
-Year in film: ~1830s ?
-Country: Ireland, USA
-Who in clothing: David 10 ys, sailor suits
-Who in clothing 2: breeches, others
-Available on DVD: yes
-I own: not yet
-Clothing occurence: medium ?
-Rating:  10/10
-Rating: **********
-Comment: (British) Max Dolbey (pictured) in different sailor suits. Dark blue sailor suit with white collar and red scarf and shiny (satin?) white short sailor suit with blue collar also 2 stripes and straw hat. Maybe more suits and actors (maybe also girls?) Also of course other historical clothings (including breeches) and also at least 2 spanking scenes (incl. Dolbey).

Yesterday I found during research a list of best voted period series. (More of that to come, also for my overalls blog). Then I start checking those films and series and got a video recommendation of this. Perfect. I like white collars. And also the blue collar is well shown from behind. Sitting in white sailor suit on a wagon.
I don't know this complete film yet (180 minutes, 3 parts a 60 min) but I assume medium or fewer good scenes as there is also a grown up Copperfield, but the scenes, setting and actors looks extremely good and authentic. I have to check other similar films as well. Famous novel by Charles Dickens, published 1850. Nominated for a Primetime Emmy, produced by Hallmark, also starring Michael Richards, Hugh Dancy and Eileen Atkins. Have to check again, but even rating 10 for now.

List 10: Michael Ande films

This is a list of (existing) entries of films starring young Michael Ande. I made this list for several reasons. Main reason is to find missing films and possibly other films. Often there are also other actors in Lederhosen (and sailor suits). It also shows, which is (in my opinion) the best, which has sailor suits and which don't, etc. Also the blog search often doesn't work properly. As usual, this list will be updated (if necessary). I hope this list will be useful.
The list is sorted by year. (See also other lists like favourite Heimatfilms, rare movies etc.)

Year  title                              rating, sailor suit, other boys, available

1956 Das Hirtenlied vom Kaisertal, 9, no, yes, no
1956 Alpenglühn im Wetterstein (same film as Das Hirtenlied..)
1956 Die Trapp-Familie, 10, yes, yes, DVD
1956 Zärtliches Geheimnis, (b/w), 8, no?, yes, no
1957 Die Prinzessin von St. Wolfgang, 6, no, no?, VHS
1957 Der schönste Tag meines Lebens, 7, yes, yes, no *
1957 Skandal in Ischl, 3, no, no, no  (no Lederhosen, no sailor suit)
1958 Die Trapp-Familie in America, 5, yes (men), yes, DVD
1959 Wenn die Glocken hell erklingen, 8, yes, yes, VHS
..

Unsorted, with no entries yet, but confirmed Lederhosen or sailor suits (or similar or other historical clothing):

-1954 Marianne de ma jeunnesse (b/w) (Ande and some young men in medium length pants with suspenders, probably not Lederhosen? Caps like scouts)
-1958 Majestät auf Abwegen (color) maybe no Lederhosen? but probably interesting other historical clothing incl. boy as prince in uniform (Günter Hoffmann) and Oliver Grimm in historical (Hungarian? Tracht)
-1962 Der kleine Lord (unsure, maybe sailor suit) found no pics

All films are Heimatfilms featuring Lederhosen. Skandal in Ischl= no Lederhosen, no sailor suits.

Most of the new entries appears to be rare. Some infos (pics) at filmportal.de (except for Der kleine Lord).
In later films, Ande is not a child anymore. Not sure if IMDb films are complete.

Eine vollkommen erlogene Geschichte

TV family film
-Year: 1977
-Year in film: 1970s
-Country: GDR
-Who in clothing: boys ~ 9-11 ys, Lederhosen ?
-Who in clothing 2: speedos
-Available on DVD: no
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: medium
-Rating:  5/10
-Rating: *****
-Comment: I think maybe at least 3 boys in buckskin Lederhosen (or similar short pants not sure if really leather, pictured). Looks like if the underpants of one young boy is shown under the shorts. Also some cycling scenes and swimming scenes with colorful speedos. I don't know/don't remember the complete "Fantasy" film but it's quite good. However I don't like much GDR films and films of the 70s. Obviously not yet released on either DVD nor VHS. Produced for East German DFF television. Directed by Gunter Friedrich. Starring Susanne Junewitz, Olaf Ernst and others. Rating 5 for now. Will check again when I have more time or next broadcasting. No real trailer.
